VOTE NOW - Share the Good & Help Seaside School Grow Their Corner Garden
May 14, 2013 by SoWal Staff
Seaside Neighborhood School (SNS) has been entered in the Share the Good grant program offered by Seeds of Change®, an organic food and seed company that helps teach about where our food comes from. Share the Good donates 1% of sales to support and develop sustainable community based gardening and farming programs.
Seaside School relies on fundraising to offer innovative programs like its robotics program and community garden. The school hopes to expand the garden and has received an innovative proposal from Dhiru Thadani, an expert in new developments, urban retrofits and neighborhood revitalization to build the Seaside School Corner Garden. With the grant money from Share the Good, the school could execute on Thadani's vision for the garden as a place to teach sustainable agriculture practices and healthy eating.
You can help by visiting Seeds of Change - Share the Good's facebook page, 'like it', put in the school's zip code of 32459 or enter "Seaside School Garden" in the application field and vote for SNS now through May 17. The gardens with the most votes will be up for a $25,000 grant or one of fifteen $10,000 grants. Applications will be evaluated by a panel of judges.
Each person can vote once per day and grant recipients will be announced on or around June 4. Vote NOW and help the Seaside School's community garden grow!
