Watershed Music Festival at Boshamps Sep 20

September 17, 2014 by SoWal Staff

Boshamps Seafood & Oyster House on the Destin Harbor will host the inaugural Choctawhatchee Watershed Music Festival on September 20 from 2pm-10pm. The benefit concert will promote the health and sustainability of local waterways via the mission and objectives of the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance (CBA) of Northwest Florida State College.

The eight- hour festival will consist of nonstop music from five different artists, all for the wristband price of $20. There will also be a silent auction to raise additional funds for CBA programs, consisting of a BOTE paddle board, an electric guitar signed by the performing artists and more. All proceeds from the sale of wristbands and silent auction items will go to support the goals and mission of CBA.

The Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance is a watershed organization that focuses its efforts on educating the community about local waterways for the optimum utilization of these natural resources.

“It is very important that our community understands the economic stability our waterways provide. If we (CBA) promote the responsible recreational use of these resources, there is a good chance that we will be able to depend on and enjoy these resources for generations to come,” said Sarah Davis, Fund Development & Marketing Officer for CBA.

Miller Phillips of Boshamps Seafood & Oyster House, Nicky Harvell of Destin Ice & Tackle and Jared Cramblett of Worry Free Entertainment were on board with Davis to assist in the planning of Choctawhatchee Watershed Music Festival. Having put together many fundraisers in the past, Miller, Nicky and Jared knew exactly what it would take to make Watershed successful.

“It was a no brainer to contact them to assist me with this,” said Davis, “these guys are business savvy, hard working professionals in the Destin area. Bigger than their careers is their capacity to better the community and help others. I couldn't have asked for a better team to make this happen."

Choctawhatchee Watershed Music Festival line-up features artists such as Flow Tribe, Los Locos, Stokeswood, Dismal Creek, and Von Brain. There will be two stages that will alternate the performing artists, all of which are visible from the outdoor decks, tiki-bar, sand beach and docks of Boshamps. The bustling Destin Harbor provides the backdrop for the event. Parking for the festival will be designated by signs at various locations surrounding the venue.
