Wishing I was Fishing

June 19, 2012 by Larry Pentel

Man, been a blowy June so far this year. At this rate we'll be lucky if we get 20 days of Red Snapper season in.

We had a week of surf and rough seas since my last report and then two really nice days. Yesterday started out beautiful at daylight but the wind quickly started blowing hard and coming around from the North to the East as the sun came up.

I caught a mess of live bait, came in and picked my folks up at 7:30 AM and told 'em we were going to fish fast. I hit 3 close in spots and we were back on the beach a little after 9 AM with a great catch, a pretty big following sea and all the other boats that had gone out back with us.

Glad We Went!

The past few calm days had my anglers busy with some great catches. Plenty of Red Snappers around as well as a good show of gag Groupers(hopefully they will still be around after July 1st and the season opens )plenty of Amberines, Kings and even a few "bonus" fish as well.

Gotta Let 'Em Go for 2 more weeks-

Big Snappers and Big Smiles

I put both the young gals on a rod together and they beat Dad !

Don't Yank-- Just Turn the Crank ! and this is what you get......

The weather forecast looks "iffy " for the rest of the week. I plan on having the boat ready and being on the beach at daylight tomorrow to see if it's worth going....even if it's a short trip
Just be ready and go when it's safe!
