The Critical Linkages are an important part of the Florida Wildlife Corridor, as highlighted by the 2012 Florida Wildlife Corridor Expedition, which traversed many of the Critical Linkages in the Florida peninsula. The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF) will host the 18th Annual Festival of the Arts on Oct. 26-27, 2013. One of the Southeast's premier art festivals, the event features more than 100 juried artists competing for cash prizes. Previously held at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, Fla., the anticipated annual event is moving a mile north to the recently enhanced Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village.
The Seaside Institute will hold its first Plein Air Artists Colony Invitational in Seaside from Oct. 14-19, 2013. The artists invited to participate will stay in the new Seaside Academic Village cottages. A dozen artists will demonstrate open air painting as they capture scenes on canvas at locations in Seaside, Rosemary Beach, and Alys Beach.
The Baytowne Beer Festival is a favorite for us here on the coast - excellent beer and food in South Walton at Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin. With the boom of interest in craft beers, the 6th annual edition of the festival this October 18-19 will be more popular than ever.
