The area has fundamentals that support significant growth and yield over the next twenty years. The area relies heavily on defense, construction, and tourism. Construction and tourism took a substantial hit over the past few years, but have hit record numbers this year.

18th Annual Festival of the Arts at Mattie Kelly Art Village Oct 26-27

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF) will host the 18th Annual Festival of the Arts on Oct. 26-27, 2013. One of the Southeast's premier art festivals, the event features more than 100 juried artists competing for cash prizes. Previously held at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, Fla., the anticipated annual event is moving a mile north to the recently enhanced Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village. 

Walton County TDC Announces Malcolm Patterson as Hospitality Award Winner

Each year, the TDC recognizes a pioneer in the tourismindustry with the prestigious award, bestowed upon a community member for his or her visionary leadership in helping to shape South Waltoninto a premier tourist destination.

Shelter House Executive Director Receives International Credential

Shelter House, the domestic and sexual violence center serving Okaloosa and Walton counties, is proud to announce that its Executive Director, Michelle Sperzel, was recently awarded the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential. With this designation, Sperzel joins an elite group of fundraising professionals across the globe. Fewer than 300 fundraising professionals in Florida hold this credential and just 5,400 have achieved this goal worldwide.
