On August 27, 2007, a new thread was started on the SoWal Forum titled “SoWal NCAA Pick’em”. It was created by long-time local SoWaller known as "30A Skunkape", a.k.a.”Skunky”. He is elusive and yet well-known, and his legend grows just like the real Skunkape, a.k.a Sasquatch, a.k.a. Bigfoot.

Adopt a rubber duck and join in a day of family fun at the third annual Emerald Coast Duck Regatta benefiting the Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast Guild. On Saturday, Oct. 12, approximately 4,000 ducks will begin their race across the Lagoon at the Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Prizes will be awarded to the owners of the first ducks to cross the finish line, including a $5,000 first place prize!
The crew at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast (South Walton Club) is preparing for a long-awaited move to their new building on 20 acres off Highway 331, behind the public library. For the past 11 years, the staff and kids of the club have been in a set of portable buildings on the site, and are extremely excited about their new facility. The first six years were spent on the west end of Scenic 30A, and the last five at the current location.

Grab a blanket and come on out August 30 at 8 p.m. to the Seaside Amphitheater and enjoy the classic South Walton film set in Seaside, Florida - The Truman Show.
The film was shot in Seaside 15 years ago, with its first screening in June 1998. To celebrate, Seaside is hosting a contest for all Truman Show fans who want to explore Seaside and the various sites and artifacts left behind from the set.
Coming this September to Williams Backyard Boogie is the first annual fundraiser for Arts in Medicine program at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. The event will feature the sounds of our very own “true story” cowboy - Bryan Kennedy, Vermont’s Green Mountain Girl - Stephanie Lynn, and the award winning area favorite - the Forrest Williams Band. There will be added preshow antics and improv by the Emerald Coast Theater Company, raffle items donated by local artists and food plates provided by Grayton Beach Catering.
