Summer comes alive in South Walton around the time school lets out, or the annual YOLO Race Series starts, whichever comes first. This year the start of the race series coincides with the end of school on Thursday May 24.

Perfect attendance. I can’t remember the last time I attained that lofty status. Maybe a one-week stint of vacation bible school or my own birthday parties.
But it’s been ten years and I can honestly say I’ve never missed a night of MoutainFilm on Tour at WaterColor. It might just be my all-time favorite weekend of the year.
Certainly, the best event that doesn’t involve swimming in the Gulf.
The 2010 YOLO Board Race Series is underway. The second of the five-race series featured men's, and women's divisions on Western Lake at WaterColor's BoatHouse. Races are ongoing from May to August at various area locations.
Race paddlers vie for the champion title “2010 YOLO Board Cup Series” to be awarded after the final race in August.
