Sunset Bay Cafe
Sunset Bay Cafe celebrates the spirit of “Old Florida” with innovative cooking and fresh, local ingredients. The casual dining spot overlooks Choctawhatchee Bay in Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort and features million-dollar views and exceptional customer service.
Owners Bryce and Capt. Gary Jarvis have the local’s touch that makes the most of the views… and the ingredients available to the kitchen. As captain of The Backdown 2 (a fishing charter on the Destin Harbor), Captain Jarvis lends an expert’s eye to local and sustainable seafood and fresh ingredients.
The family owned restaurant also features the best things in life…carbs. Bryce's wife Miranda operates Holy Cakes out of the restaurant, preparing delicious baked good confections on the spot as well as made to order cakes and treats for special occasions. Local seafood, fresh baked goods and spectacular views make Sunset Bay Café the go-to spot for people who brunch.
“We wanted to have a mix of familiar items as well as creative takes on the classics,” says Bryce.
Cinnamon rolls, French toast, pancakes and waffles will help you get your morning pastry fix. If you’re more into proteins for breakfast, you can create your own omelet or bite into a benedict. If you want to have your cake and eat it too, then enjoy the best of both worlds with chicken and waffles or a breakfast croissant stacked high with all five food groups.
Lunch plates at Sunset Bay Cafe come from both land and sea and no place at the beach would be complete without their take on Shrimp and Grits. (Sunset Bay Cafe serves theirs with a poached egg.) Enjoy salads and sandwiches, like fresh caught Red Snapper on a croissant kept simple with lettuce, tomato, onion and Jerked remoulade. Handhelds are always a good idea, and you can't go wrong with fresh fish tacos.
Sunset Bay Café is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, all menu items can be ordered during this time frame. Want a hamburger or grouper sandwich at 7 a.m.? No problem. Pancakes at 2 p.m.? You got it.
Brunch wouldn’t be complete without the mother of all brunch cocktails: The Bloody Mary. Sunset Bay Café serves theirs with a thick slice of crispy bacon. You can also grab a refreshing cocktail or ice-cold beer at the café’s outdoor, poolside Tiki Bar open daily during the season from 11 a.m. to sunset.
Sunset Bay Cafe also enjoys catering events. The entire restaurant (indoors and outdoors) can host events day and night for up to 200 people. Having a built-in indoor weather backup is a real plus for corporate events, wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, and even ugly sweater Christmas parties!
