Where the Wild Things Run 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run at Biophilia Center

Race through the woods for a wild adventure! Join us for the 3rd Annual Where the Wild Things Run. Sign up for the 5K Trail Run or 1 Mile “Little Critter” Fun Run benefiting the E.O.Wilson Biophilia Nature Center on Saturday, October 27th. Registration is open. The 5K Trail Run course will take you through parts of Nokuse Plantation, a 54,000 acre conservation area. The challenging terrain will highlight the diversity and beauty of our property. Runners, joggers and walkers of all ages are welcome. This trail is not stroller or pet friendly.

Come support the Biophilia Center and explore nature by running WILD! Celebrate with food, music and interactive museum and exhibits after the race.

Registration and Pricing:
5K Trail Run: $40.00
“Little Critter” 1 Mile Fun Run: $20.00 (Children 12 and younger only, please)
Early packet pick up will still be available on Friday, October 26th at Bay Baits from 5-7 pm.

Event Timeline:
7:00 AM: Race Packet Pick-Up and Late registration if available.
8:00 AM: “Little Critter” 1 Mile Fun Run Start. Please arrive no less than 30 minutes early for 1 Mile Fun Run.
9:30 AM: 5K Trail Run Starts. Please arrive early (at least 45 minutes) to allow enough time to walk approx. 

After the Race: Celebrate with food, Grayton Beer, music, Bounce house & interactive museum/exhibits.
11:15 AM: Awards Announced
 
The E.O.Wilson Biophilia Center is a non-profit environmental education center with the mission to educated students and visitors on the importance of biodiversity, to promote sustainability, and to encourage conservation, preservation and restoration of ecosystems. The center is nestled in the Longleaf Pine ecosystem, which is considered the 6th most biodiverse area in the continental U.S. and less than 2% of it remains intact today.

During the school year the Biophilia Center educates, on average, 100 students a day in fourth and seventh grades, Monday through Friday. Students visit the Center FREE of CHARGE for either two or four day programs that are filled with over twenty different environmental science lessons. During the summer months we provide and fun-filled learning experience with public museum days, animal encounters, summer day camps, guided trail hikes, and more!
