OK - thanks for the info. I just read the stolen bike thread, too. Like I said, hubby is used to locking up, but I just think it is good to know what to expect. We will be starting out with our yard-sale bikes, but they're all we have for now!

Isn't that just Murphy's law, Scooterbug - you had to "encourage" your bike to disappear! :}

It sounds like more than one person. Tonight, in Gulf Place, I saw the kid the Sheriff's Deputies handcuffed last week for breaking into cars in Grayton. He was with his mom, and maybe her female friend. My eyes felt like the eye's of a hawk, trying to get a read on them.

What was the kid doing to "get his Mom's attention" this time?

Not sure, Dune-Ahh. He looked liked he was doing normal kid things, but he and the mom's female friend(?) looked a little suspicious, only because I knew about the incident in Grayton. You know how easy it is to make up mini-movies in your mind -- the movie is often much more dramatic than real life. They were probably just being normal people. Maybe the cops catching the kid did enough to shake him up and get him back on the right path. I bet he would have been a little more shaken if the Deputies had put him in the back of the car to the Sheriff's station, and let him think about his actions in a holding cell for an hour or so, until his mother had to come get him out. Maybe if they do that, they have to officially put the incident on his criminal record, so they didn't. I'd hate to see such a young kid go off to juvi for doing stupid stuff, but I also don't want the kid to feel like he got off so easy that he will keep stealing other people's crap.

My son works at the Red Bar and about a month ago someone smashed his drivers side window out while he was working. He had a couple of his friends go out and move his car closer to the restaurant. They walk up just in time to scare the person off. Luckily, the thief didn't get a chance to get any farther than he did.

Heathernflorida, your son might want to check with Walton County Sheriff's Office. If he didn't report it, he might want to. If this has been the same kid, repeatedly breaking in to people's cars, he needs to be stopped. Maybe it is linked to this same kid who was caught on April 13.

I'm so sorry to hear about everyone's losses/thefts.

But I'm still moving down there! :lol:

The final time, before I moved off of 30A, someone walked into my home and stole all of my camera equipment, lenses, filters, tripod the works, along with a Guess Jacket (12 years ago), my diamond "divorce" ring, my dead brother's aquamarine, my wedding band and a gold and diamond watch that was a wedding present from my wife.

DKA.... Not to in any way make light of your break-in... it's a horrible violating feeling that I know too well... but I just had to :rofl: at the fact you put a disclaimer on the Guess jacket!!!!:clap:
