This story just gets more and more bizarre. I had heard this, but had not had time to research it...thanks for posting.
Since this story line is bizarre, you might want to wait for more primary source information on the vice presidential selection process. The U.S. Senate is a small group and its members are very familiar with many facets of each members' political and personal lives. Palin had strong disagreements with Alaska Republican state party leader Ben Stevens, U.S. Senator Ted Steven's son, and defeated Governor and former U.S. Senator Frank Murkowski. She has already taken out one U.S. Senator and she is quite capable of taking out another one or two. Although Senator Stevens is now indicted, at the time she did not pull back on her principles in standing up to one of the most powerful men in the country. I am sure this past achievement did not escape Senator McCain or his political operatives.
..I am just not getting this!Although this may have been needed, how does that make her qualified for VP? She will be able to take on lobbyists? Terrorists? Rogue Senators? ....I am just not getting this!
.
Inexperience seems to be a theme on both sides in this election.
To quote Dave Barry on the 2000 elections: "Polls show...50 percent of likely voters wishing they had two other candidates to choose from and the other 50 percent agreeing."
..Love the quote!...I'm not having a problem with either Obama or Biden though. I see enough qualifications in Obama (besides being a good speaker) for me to be comfortable. And who could doubt Biden's qualifications, even if one didn't agree with his policies.Inexperience seems to be a theme on both sides in this election.

:funn:So does this mean that the two candidates have finally united the country?![]()
I've tried searching for the answer online, but cannot find it. If a President died while in office, or resigned, the Vice President would become the President. My question is, who becomes the VP in that case? Does the new President select his or her own, or does the next in line, Speaker of the House, take over as VP?
Just thinking about the question posed regarding McCain's age, and the what ifs Palin suddenly became President. If she gets to choose her own VP, don't you think she would likely select a woman, I mean, select a person with ample experience? If she doesn't get to pick and Nancy Pelosi takes the VP, that would be very historical, and there's your experienced back up, should that happen.
