I know where Google is. I figured that you could answer a simple question as you bash others views in dealing with the subject. ;-)
Since none in the much more knowledgable pro-evolution group has decided to give a substantive answer. I will do my best to describe what the scientist's holding this view say. Note there are many different systems that attempt to justify Darwin's initial observations from Punctuated Equilibrium to the more recent Complexity theory.
But basically here's the problem. We have never observed ANY species evolving into another species (not even in bacteria). What has been observed is variation and differentiation in the characteristics of a particular species. For example, a lizard on a desolate volcanic island will look different from a very similar cousin living on a lush green tropical island. Darwin observed this type of thing which is undeniably true. However, he then made the jump to say that this INTRAspecies evolution suggested INTERspecies evolution. But again there has been no observed phenomena that has proven this.
Darwin's followers have come up with many theories about why we have not seen such phenomena. But they still stubbornly claim that the interspecies evolutionary claim is still "scientific." Bottom line is that they say it takes millions of years for these changes to occur or it happens in spurts when all the stars align just right.
Maybe they are correct. Maybe they aren't. Either way the state of science is this area does not rise to the methodological standards of something like Quantum Mechanics. To many physicists, the methodological license taken by Evolutionary Biologists would be unacceptable for them.
Further, even if the evolutionary biologists are correct, their theories still don't explain where all the matter in the universe came from to begin with or how inorganic materials transformed into complex organic chemicals like those found in DNA. But they don't really care. They are two busy shouting everyone else down with their claims to KNOW all about the subject.
Josh, you can't argue with a dogmatist, whether religious or secular. They are not interested in learning. Only imposing their opinions on others. But the best scientific minds are OPEN, and these people recognize the unknowns. Those are the people who drive science forward, fighting the dogmatist the whole way.
Excellent post DF. Didn't Darwin also say that if no fossils were found between the morphing stages that his theory would be incorrect?

Humans are getting taller, for one thing. SWGB is starting to recognize poorly-constructed sentences, for another. Evolution hasn't stopped. (SWGB! Behave! Stop insulting the cockroaches, which happen to be pretty highly evolved...er...I mean stop making personal attacks on real estate agents because it's just not nice...)
Last I heard, we were also close genetic relatives to dolphins, and I just read a book (written by a Christian--gasp!) that discusses our direct link from starfish. It has already been pointed out that science is a series of best-guesses to the questions of philosophy. The questioning and the guessing is, in my undogmatic and unscientific opinion, the best part of the process. Once we find all the answers there will be nothing more to do than sit around and watch Oprah all day.
