I find the whole "troopergate" story facinating, and a very good example of how the press is incapable of telling the news and not picking sides in politics. Has anyone read an article or seen a story where the details of troopergate are exposed? I haven't, but I have picked up snippets. Some supposed facts -

1) Todd Palin was the one who first brought the actions of this trooper up to authorities, including providing a great deal of evidience that the trooper had broken the law.
2) Sarah Palin never asked that the trooper be fired, but she did use him as an example in communications with authorities as to why there were issues in the police force.
3) The trooper is rumored to have shot and killed wild animals without a license, drank on the job, and threatened the life of some of Palin's family.

I'd just once like to see an honest, full account of what transpired. It seems though the media is incapable of doing it job. They've mentioned troopergate a 1000 times, but never actually explained what troopergate is! It's crazy!

30 a I'd like to know the whole truth as well. But since they(Palin refuses to turn over the email communications, claiming executive privilege, even though her husband, who was not an officer of the government was CC'D on them) we will not know. It is enough for me, when a Governor refuse to testify during an independent investigation on her office, to not want to vote for them. This is one of the main issues I have with present administration. The secrecy and the 'do what I say, not what I do,' mentality. If she has nothing to hide, then testify.

This issue also is viable to me, because it's not about her sex, kids or anything of that nature, except for the sisiter connection. It's how she handled her office, before being called to be VP and if she abused her power.

Why would I need to mention that though since we already know that because that's the only aspect of this story the press has reported on. I mean really, have you seen any detailed reports of this, covering both sides of it? I haven't. It's amazing to me how bad the reporting has been.

A state trooper threatening the life of a person should be fired immediately, arrested and thrown in jail. Add tazering a ten year old, and I don't understand the questioning on the trooper-gate.

I think it's much deeper than that SJ. Although I agree excessive force should always be an automatic dismissal. Why does she refuse to testify now, though? That deserves questioning.

I honestly don't think the press can get to the information they need to do complete coverage on it. If an independent council can't get it, then the press in second in line.

We basically have 2 camps here- the Republicans who think Palin is awesome for every reason they can tie to being female and the governor of Alaska, and the Democrats, who are more concerned with the public showboating of her kids and what she is all about in addition to being female.

jdarg: I must be in the third camp. Democrat who just does not think she is a good pick for the country because she was picked for all the wrong reasons (ie, because she is a woman, to appeal to the evangelical republican base, loves guns, etc). and because I can't relate in the least with her ultra-conservative positions and politics. I care nothing about the children issues - that is not my concern.
