So, I am guessing that as of Jan 21, the tally will start for Obama. :dunno:

But he'll be moving troops to Afghanistan - will his tally start there?

Isn't it bad enough that we are all suffering for Ws' mistakes without trying to pass down the blame also.

Possibly, but let's wait and see what actually happens, shall we? I don't think he could do a worse job than the Bush administration has done. Who knows, we might have been finished with that one by now if it wasn't for the error of pulling resources out to use in Iraq. We'll never know now, will we? Both wars will be Bush legacy items.

On Obama's transition website it is stated that he will increase our troop levels in Afghanistan. I shall wait and see what actually happens.

It is a matter of opinion as to the job that the Bush administration has done.

My first time on Politics chat, so forgive me for asking:

Did anybody check to see if he knows there are two types of "Marine?"
He could have thought it would be a nice place for The Few, The Proud, to vacation.....

Yes, indeed, it is. And it is the opinion of a vast majority of Americans AND even more citizens of the world at large that he has done a poor job, isn't it?

It depends on where you get your polls and what you consider a vast majority. AND I wonder how many citizens of the world at large approve of the other world leaders?

I don't base my opinion on the what has support of the largest flock.

Obama didn't start the thing! The "tally" will still be part of the Bush administration's legacy. As of January 21st, Obama will begin the process of departing Iraq as soon as possible without doing more damage to the region.

What are you guys talking about? The Iraq war ended two years ago. I remember the Democrats telling me that as soon as they got in there, two years ago, they were bringing the troops home and ending the thing.

I got my poll info from a website that tracks all mass news media polls:

http://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm

Even Fox shows Mr. Bush having a 60% disapproval rating as of 12/10/08. That's a pretty solid majority. Most recent polls show his disapproval rate in the high 60s to low 70s. The worlds disapproval of him is much higher, 75-90% depending on the source. I believe that to be vast disapproval by any definition.

Other world leaders are not what this thread is about and not relevant to this discussion. And I , like you, don't form my opinion based on anyone else's views. Not any one news source nor any "flock" of anything.

If you think Mr. Bush has done a good job over the past 8 years, so be it. You have a right to that opinion and I respect you for that. I just don't share it.

Since we have now succesfully derailed the Bush enviro topic and have moved it to a war conversation. I have a question or two. In regards to troop losses, the Bush administration took a substantial amount of heat from the media and others regarding the decision to not allow the press to show the coffins of American soldiers coming back home.

So in the light of open, transparent government, do you believe Obama will allow it? Also, do you think the media will cover it? Finally, will Americans have the stomach for it when hundreds (if not thousands) more soldiers come home from Afghanistan as they increase troop levels and fight in the moutains.

I know I wasn't around for Vietnam or the USSR/Afghan wars, but from where I sit I can see the possibility of Al Queda and possibly the Taliban burrowing in like the Viet Cong and making it very hard on us.
