I hear ya, Toots. Did you know that chipped nail polish is supposed to be "in"? Saw it in a fashion magazine and on The Today Show. Personally I think it looks like heck.

I have acrylic nails because as soon as my natural nails grow out enough to have any length beyond the quick, they break off. Always been that way. Bummer.

OK, everybody back up. In reference to FTLOC...

Is that cod the fish, or the other meaning of the word "cod" (at least in Walton County)? As in, when a fella goes to lift something heavy, you are supposed to tell him, "be careful, don't pop a cod!" :dunno:

Does anyone else find it funny that we color and paint dead tissue...our nails and hair? :rotfl:

I'm not too worried about the dead tissue, I'm too busy trying to revive the useless and unused tissue

My feet have taken a beating lately. Gee, wonder if it's cause I wear flip flops constantly? It started with the fire ants, then blisters on each little toe from a pair of shoes I wear pretty regularly...wtf? Then, it was a mosquito bite, then another blister, then yesterday, I dropped two heavy shelves from a bookcase right on top of my left foot. I'm off to buy boots now!!

its funny how tastes change with age. I used to have polish on my toes 365/24/7. no going out of the house without polish on toes. EVER. I felt the same about mascara.

now I could care less about either. I will do mascara, and a pedicure when there is really good reason for them - like a special event. I do love a pedicure and will treat myself now and then. I do believe in neat looking nails on hands and feet - but polish is highly overrated, imo. its not healthy in the longterm, and it looks like sheet after the first week. I can easily maintain unpainted nails, but the painted nails are just too much hassle.

my best girlfriend in HS used to get on me constantly about my nail polish being half chipped off. I did not even care. (she has owned a nail business for many years since then)... now? i don't like polish on my fingernails at all!

one thing we haven't discussed here - the fake acrylic nails. omc. I have never wanted them. I have many girlfriends who loved them in the past (but most don't have them now). I think these are awful - UNLESS you have really bad nails - they can be a great help in some cases - as long as they are made to look natural.

I wasn't saying you need polish all the time - just that when you are wearing dressy sandals your toes should be dressy too. Unpainted unkempt toenails at a dressy occassion in strappy sandals are horrid and defeat the purpose of all the makeup, nice clothes, hairdo etc.

I rarely wear fingernail polish except for big events - toes will last for weeks w/ minimal touch-ups, but I typically ruin a manicure in less than an hour.

:rotfl:well, I'm no expert on the subject as I did not invent the phrase. but I go with the second meaning you listed. of course.

totally agree with unkempt toenails - in any sandals. yucky. but in fancy sandals, even worse.
