We should all just be happy that the Dems still control the Senate, and that the extreme (insert descriptor) wing of the Republican party has been rejected. No unpleasant surprises in this election except for maybe Rick Scott. We all knew that Rubio would win long ago.

I agree. That was my point. I had more faith in the people of Florida being willing to put aside partisan affiliation and vote for the better candidate. I am disappointed that I was wrong. I really think there are few people (maybe his Mom) who if they are honest, think that Scott is the right person to be Governor of our state. We will see.

Governors act as a back stop to the legislature. My hope would be that he puts that veto pen to work like Jeb used to. We need someone like that in the governors office. (The potential down side: another Terry Schiavo.)

I also looked at some of the Bills that Florida Gov. Bush vetoed, sorry I did not see many that had to do with money, except Library Appropriations.

Right here!
Obama's speech today gave me hope. (Although some of the messages here do not.) He didn't say he wanted me to sit in the back of the bus, didn't describe me as extreme or say I was his enemy. He spoke of consensus and cooperation in dealing with our troubles. I'm more optimistic now than I've been in four years.

That's because he never used that line......only your GOP leadership has used that term....

"We don't mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back."

- Obama just a few weeks ago.

But that's ok! I understand you're a little bitter right now. I'm not! :D:wave:

Full quote: "Finally we got this car up on level ground. And, yes, it's a little beat up. It needs to go to the body shop. It's got some dents; it needs a tune-up. But it's... pointing in the right direction. And now we've got the Republicans tapping us on the shoulder, saying, we want the keys back.

You can't have the keys back. You don't know how to drive. You can ride with us if you want, but you got to sit in the backseat. We're going to put middle-class America in the front seat. We're looking out for them."

Nothing about back of the bus....

And now the quote from Steele:

"Nancy Pelosi will be in the back of the bus."

Didn't hear the Repubs nor Faux news making an issue when their African American leadership actually stated back of the bus.....Did YOU?.....but they sure threw a fit when the President talked about the Repubs sitting in the back of a car (or as they "understood" bus)

Faux News sure had fun with that spin dry setting....

As far as the Florida Governor's race, we had a choice between two flawed candidates. The debate debacle told us all we needed to know about Sink and the 75 5th Amendment answers told us what we needed to know about Scott. In the end people were afraid of encouraging big spending and higher taxes by electing a Democrat so they voted Republican. I would think Scott is on a short leash.

The national results represent a rejection of the big government policies of the past two years and a recognition of the dangers of huge deficits and higher taxes. The vote was not an endorsement of the Republican Party because people have not forgotten the mistakes made from 2002-2006. I would think the Congressional Republicans are on a short leash.

The Tea Party won 113 of 139 races they had candidates in. (MSNBC's numbers) The movement had some big losses (Angle, O'Donnell) but several big wins as well ( Paul, Rubio) and produced the excitement that fueled the historic results of last evening. Whether you like it or not the Tea Party will play a role in 2012.

One other public figure is on a short leash: Barrack Obama.

The icing on the cake would have been a Reid loss. His win was the biggest bummer of the evening for me. The highlight was the moment I realized Nanci Pelosi lost her gavel. I really hope she exits (stage left of course :D) completely.
