make it a progressive dinner !!!

Criolla's for drinks and tapas
D&K for dinner
Gravel Road for dessert

all three of the above restaurants are very near each other.

Count me in! Let's do it. I will be in town next Thursday how 'bout Friday or Saturday night. Uuummmm.....can I have dessert twice? I love Katz key lime pie!

When we did tappas at Criolla's a couple of weeks ago it was divine. I liked going early and just sitting at the bar. Had a really good mojito there too. There were very sweet to us letting us come in a few minutes early. I have arrived early a couple of places before and they very rudely told you they were not open yet, but they let us come in have a seat and look at the menu while they finished setting up.

Goofer which one did you like best? FFF and I had those fabulous root chips (I forgot what they were called) with hummus and guacomole.

This is the best idea I've heard.

Goofer, can I tag along with you on your gastronomic adventures? They always sound like fun, and your wine selections...heavenly.

Let's do it!

I hate to sound like a backwoods heathen but......we never dress up when on vacation in FL. SO- would any of these nice restaurants lend themselves to shorts (not cut-offs) or even jeans? I have others on my list to visit but thought I would ask about these as well.

Thanks in advance for not taking me to task for lack of refinement and decorum. :D
In the summer the most dressed up I see the people who aren't newbies is "beach dressy-casual" - lots of linen - pants with a dress shirt or polo for men and a linen shirt/pants or a dressy-casual sundress (no spike heels) for women.

But you can get by with shorts and a t-shirt. I mean, they'll take your money. One night after we had been doing work around the house, we headed out for a casual restaurant. We were too tired to get dressed, so we wore our work clothes, didn't shower, I didn't do my makeup or hair. Every restaurant suitable for our attire was packed. We didn't want takeout pizza because we had that the night before. We ended up eating at Borago because for some reason they had seats available. I'm not gonna lie - we looked pretty shabby.

BTW I don't see jeans at the beach in the summer. Different in the off-season when my beach uniform is jeans, cowboy boots, a sweater, and a fur jacket or vest.

If you could only have one dining out experience while in SoWal, where would you go and why?

I have been pondering this question for days now. Actually, I think I would want to eat some place I've never dined before. And that leaves a number of places open.:dunno:

I've never dined at Stinkey's, or Onano's....have eaten at Gravel Road for lunch, but not dinner!:dunno: :bang: So it would be difficult for me right now to choose. I'm happy with hushpuppies, fried ______ (insert catfish, shrimp, oysters, soft shell crab), cheese grits and a piece of pecan pie or bread pudding. YUM  And the coldest beer in the cooler.

 I miss my momma, she used to make me all these or whatever I wanted. Who needed to go out!

When we are in Destin (or now, Sowal), I am lucky to get DH out of a swim suit and into shorts to go eat. That's why I was wondering about these "nicer" places on the thread. I can see us ending up at someplace like Borago, feeling shabby but eating anyway! :D
