I forgot to tell you about this bread that I make--it's a straightforward sturdy peasant bread that tastes great in the morning slathered with good butter and/or jam. Plus it's as healthy as all get-out. It's Brown Oatmeal Soda Bread:

Also, SJ, have you thought about making muffins? There are lots of bran muffin recipes out there that you can customize to your own liking by throwing in dried fruits, nuts, etc. The homemade muffins are so much better than the calorific, rich offerings at the bakeries. And they're easy to bake.

Sueshore and I want to discover Trader Joe's, but we have not seen one.

I am going to have to make a road trip to Mermaid's town for the closest Trader's - y'all ought to see the giant bag of goodies she brought us! I was going to make some of it last until June, but I don't think it's going to happen. Everything she brought is fantastic!

Was it a "cat head" biscuit?
Go to the SeaBar tomorrow night and find out for yourself. :rotfl:

I think Cat Head refers to the size of the biscuits.

My 2-year-old loves toasted Eggo waffles with peanut butter. Not just any peanut butter, the Smucker's natural kind, which is so so good that once you get used to it you will never go back to the processed stuff. He could eat them all day long and doesn't get really excited about much else. I asked his pediatrician about it and she said if he ate that every day, every meal for the rest of his life, he will be just fine.

I get the Eggo Nutri-Grain blueberry kind, and top it with the natural peanut butter when the waffle is still warm. It sounds weird but it is very, very good and filling. Yum!

I was thinking, jdarg, that I should bring a Trader Joe's goodie bag down to the beach in June to share with SJ. If nothing else, certainly a box of quick-cooking McCann's. :D Got to get that boy eating a good hearty breakfast!

We'll shop for him when I come up there! SJ- you will need to provide a shopping list, or at least a list of stuff that you can't stand.

I also like the small size Thomas's whole wheat bagels. I buy a bag and put them in the freezer and take one out when I want one and add a little cream cheese and sometimes lox and other things as well.

My kids love those with a little cream cheese.
