Yes, the last southern president who did not start a war, warned about energy independence, and left the country's financial balance sheet in relative balance, that guy, the one who created the depts. of energy and dept. of education, reduced foreign oil imports by half, what's his name, nobel peace prize winner...yeah he's a real bubba.Hmmm. Seems as if the first name began with J and the last with C. He turned out to be as much of a disaster almost as something "nuclear". BTW, I've noticed a lot of people mispronounce the word. Big deal!!
he's an easy target, because his performance in office will be savaged by historians. if he was a competent president, i'd give him a pass, but Bush is an embarrassment even to one half the Republican party. It has and I have friends who do pronounce it correctly.
I posted in reference to the linked article by an esteemed Berkeley professor of semantics or some such mess. His diatribe about Bush having heard the word pronounced correctly at Yale is what set me off.
My point was/is this: persons from Brooklyn, Boston, Northeast Michigan and California could all pronounce nuclear wrongly and somehow, someway, this jerk from Berkeley will hone in on the Southerner.

And despite what you say, Carter was a financial disaster to this country with as much as an 18% interest rate for those trying to become part of the American dream. The creation of the Depts of Energy and certainly Education are arguable at best and as far as the Nobel Peace Prize is concened, to many, including me, it is a joke. Nobel must be revolving in his grave over some who have received it in the last few years. Bob, considering many of your posts, I don't know whether you are looking for a fight, serious, looking for a laugh or just a troll. I will say this. You're posts are always interesting if at sometimes bizarre IMO.he's an easy target, because his performance in office will be savaged by historians. if he was a competent president, i'd give him a pass, but Bush is an embarrassment even to one half the Republican party.

And you are, this time, absolutely correct and this is as it should be.If you diss Palin, the Right is gonna come back at you with Obama,
If you diss Bush, they will come back at you with poor old Jimmy Carter.
If you diss Cheney (and how could anyone do that) they come back at you with Nancy Pelosi.
If you diss the entire Bush Administration. they'll come back at you with the entire do-nothing Congress...
Never fails.

andy, please don't tell ex-fed chairman paul volker that jimmy carter was also doing his job raising rates. volker must have been terrible because he was reappointed by the gipper. the prime interest rate was 20.5 percent as late as july 8,1981, during reagans term. inflation, driven by opec, was 13.5 percent that year. we have done nothing in all those years to shake their hold on our economic throats. Carter's speech about the issue was derided by most....too bad, so sad!And despite what you say, Carter was a financial disaster to this country with as much as an 18% interest rate for those trying to become part of the American dream.
