Part 2

Okay,so it's Sunday, we woke up, looked outside and decided it was a good idea we had already made plans for the Red Bar. It was still overcast and windy but warmish. We had planned to meet the Supermom family outside. We drove by and saw them waiting for us. I had an advantage b/c I saw SM's picture and knew what she looked like. It was so exciting. Just like she said before, sort of like a blind date. We walk up and meet the whole adorable family. Superdad had put our name in for a table and it was going to be a while so they took us on a little tour of their condo that is right next door. I've seen pictures of it before but those just do not do it justice. What a light, airy, colorful, beautiful place! I loved it.
Our beeper went off so back to the Red Bar we went. Dread was playing and the place was packed. We sat down and decided what to order. Both Mr OL and I had the mahi mahi sandwich which was very good. I can't remember what Sam had but I know Dylan had a grilled cheese. A very tall one.
We had a wonderful conversation even though we were trying to do so with Dread in the background.( a good thing) We scoped out Steeleing 1, GK and Rowie P. I walked over and introduced myself as OL to Steeleing 1 and she was so sweet, she asked what my real name was. I know so much about her and her family through sowal, it is kind of like meeting a celebrity...well she is a local celeb. I make my way back to my seat when another local celeb arrives. We spot him and call him over. He's standing closer to mr Ol and waves to me at the far end of the table. I think he asks mr OL if he's got a name other than Mr OL. :rotfl: It's kinda crazy inside so we finish up and go out. We say goodbye to the SM family and hope to see them again. It was so grayt meeting them.
SJ was sitting outside hanging with Grayton kid and a few others. I gave him a hug and we talked for a while. After two years, it was really nice to put a name and a face together on this one.;-)
We then decided to hit the beach for a bit. We walked out and it was still very windy and I think it got colder so we changed our minds and decided to take a drive up to Gulf Place. Supermom told us Blue Orleans had really good gumbo so we thought we'd stop there on the way. We stopped but they weren't open. They were steam cleaning carpets or something. We checked out the little artists shops at GF and went into Miss Lucille's to get the kids ice cream. 2 teens were on their computers or I would have sowalled for a bit. I think they were talking to each other.

Back to the condo to hang out and watch movies. The Palms have the hallway bunks. Dylan slept on the top and Sam on the bottom. This lasted about 3 days before Dylan got tired of sleeping on the top shelf in a closet.

End of the day

OL - What a great part one of your trip report! Can't wait for the rest. You were lucky to have a hotel room on Friday. I had friends looking for one on Friday night & they called 12 hotels before they could find a vacancy. The one in Alabama they ended up in was definitely not one that they will be returning to.

Sorry I missed you at the Red Bar on Sunday. I was not feeling well - fighting off a cold/virus. :bang: I made it as far as Blue Mountain Beach on my bike & decided that "coughing up a lung" would not be a good first impression & figured you would not want to share my germs. Probably a good decision as I am fairly certain I did share my germs with 3 others in our beach house, one of which ended up at the ER on Saturday.

Hopefully I can meet up with you on another beach trip.

I am heading out to your neck of the woods this weekend. Can you please warm up the temps for me? ;-)

Shaken!! we would have come to pick you up! Dang, the salt air woulda killed those ole germs. ( sounded good anyway)
Are you headed to Pick town? I'm hoping it'll warm up by then. This is just stupid cold.

Stupid cold. That is exactly what it has been here. I made an interesting fashion statement today- linen skirt, wool cardigan, sandals, completely covered by a giant wool shawl. I had to keep adding layers, but put away lots of winter clothes last week. Looked like a bag lady.:rotfl:

You are one of those people that would make a paper bag look good. Fact.

It's still stupid cold here too. Wool pea coat cold.

I know, I really thought I had put mine away for good. Funny story...when we left for Sowal it was warm in Ohio. I was trying to minimize my packing remember? I think I seriously could have used some of my winter clothes but anyway, I left wearing flip flops. I packed more flip flops of various colors and a couple pair of slides. I forgot or just decided not to pack my tennis shoes. I don't know why I just did. So dumb, and I had a new pair too. :bang: The second day I was there I pulled something in my foot and gimped around on it the rest of the week. Tennis shoes would have felt a lot better than what I had. But here's the funny part. Friday it gets rather chilly and Saturday the day we leave is down right cold and we're driving up North toward snow! I put on socks in the car and throw my flips in. Whenever we needed to stop Sam and I would share shoes. I'd go first and then she would go or I would just wear my flips but when I did I froze to death so the sharing option was better. After about 11 hours I didn't give a hoot and wore my socks and flips. Now that was a fashion statement. Mr OL pretended not to know me.
