I think Pickens with all his millions will find a way to deal with the bats:roll:

I am getting my info from The Rocky Mountain Institute primarily, but there is a lot of research; and what I said is that if we started drilling offshore now, it would take as long as 10 years to affect the price of a gallon of gasoline at the pump. The research is out there--the oil people know that and so does McCain.

In addition, there are national security issues raised by the Air Force about off shore drilling here in Florida and the pipeline in Alaska is one of the most vulnerable points for terrorists...and there are the environmental issues.

What Obama said was that he would have an Energy Plan for the country that would take away our dependence on Middle East Oil...in ten years.

Two separate points.

Are we supposed to trust him on this or will he share that plan now? I find this highly unlikely if it did not involve drilling for oil.

Oh come on! Find some legitimate criticism instead of insulting her CHOICE to give birth to a child with Down's Syndrome. Did you watch her speech? She has more executive experience than any of the other candidates on either ticket. Your insinuation that she was selected only because she is a woman is insulting.
the criticism is that there are many more qualified candidates for the VP slot than her. I stand by my statement that having a 5th child at 44 is asking for problems with birth defects. I don't understand the critical thinking that goes with that gambling scenario. Her being a viable[?] woman candidate was most likely the main reason for her selection, because she has very little experience compared to many in her peer group.

I can see it now, 2012 -- Palin vs Obama for President.

or Palin vs Hillary

SJ, to be honest I did not know much about her at all either. As soon as I heard the nominee announcement I went online and started watching all the you tubes and reading what I could about her. Several people know that I was not fired up about McCain being the nominee, she has now given me some excitement in this campaign, which is what I have been missing.

Totally!!!

She's seriously been my political hero since about 1.5 years ago. I've always hoped she would run for Prez one day and this is a partial realization of my wish.

She got into this for the right reasons. She came up from the bottom of the ranks... not a born and bred Washington politician. I admire her for her ability to stand up and give notice and the fact that her husband is her supporter and has never been a politician or had the desire to be. Her gender is merely icing on the cake of her stands against corruption and good ol' boys. We all talk about what an uphill battle it is to get rid of the good ol' boys... well, Sarah has actually done something about it.

Goofer, the lady has the highest approval factor of any Gov. She can balance a budget, which neither McCain nor Obama can do, she is isn't afraid of cutting wasteful spending, all things which are important to everyone reading this message board thread, but most importantly for McCain, the voters in and below the curve in America, vote based on popularity. McCain doesn't have it, Obama does, Biden doesn't, but Palin will rock the house, more than all three of the others. I think she will bring the votes from the masses. I've said it many times and believe it to be true -- unfortunately, the political races in America are a popularity contest, these days. I can tell you from glancing at the political highlights of Palin, I'm kind liking her better than McCain. I had never heard her name before now, and really know nothing about her, but will soon find out. I hear that there is biography written on her.

she can balance a budget with one hand in the oil companies pockets!

More impressive is that she reportedly was back at work 3 days after giving birth -- That is hardcore!

That is newsworthy - but not completely unheard of.

Most women have a baby, go right home, and never really sit down again after that- it's not like maternity leave is a big vacation.

Obama won't be around as President in 10 years. That's the old Oklahoma guarantee - if I don't perform, I'll be a son of a *****. No consequences for failure to live up to that promise.

You said it sista. I told Dylan about Gov. Palin when he got home from school. I told him she had 5 children. The first thing he said was ...she's never going to see 'em! I would think it would be a pretty tough job to do it all and do it all well.

that is fine Bob, I being 38 would love to have another child if God blessed me with one. If God chose my child to have a birth defect I don't for one minute think that is bad in any way. As long as I was healthy and the Dr. gave me the green light I would not see it as a gamble.

Yes, there were more experienced people out there for McCain to pick as VP, but looking at the Democrat nominee, who has les experience that Palin, that dog does not hunt.
Do people really have sex at 44 years of age?

well, yes....:funn:
