Goofer, the lady has the highest approval factor of any Gov. She can balance a budget, which neither McCain nor Obama can do, she is isn't afraid of cutting wasteful spending, all things which are important to everyone reading this message board thread, but most importantly for McCain, the voters in and below the curve in America, vote based on popularity. McCain doesn't have it, Obama does, Biden doesn't, but Palin will rock the house, more than all three of the others. I think she will bring the votes from the masses. I've said it many times and believe it to be true -- unfortunately, the political races in America are a popularity contest, these days. I can tell you from glancing at the political highlights of Palin, I'm kind liking her better than McCain. I had never heard her name before now, and really know nothing about her, but will soon find out. I hear that there is biography written on her.

I can see it now, 2012 -- Palin vs Obama for President.

I read up on her a few months ago. I really liked her, but she was a total long shot. I admire that she blew the whistle on her own party. That takes guts and a strong inner compass.

The only dirt I've seen so far is something about an ex-brother-in-law and his job. I kinda feel bad for Hillary now. Palin may very well become our first woman president if something does happen to McCain in office.

Definitely ups the excitement factor.

Yes. The highlighted above are all important as a potential President of the U.S.

Looking forward to she and Biden in a debate!

How good is she at plagiarism?

How brilliant of a move is having your fifth child at 44 years? The risk of birth defects is greatly elevated. Given McCain's advanced age, was this the best, most experienced candidate available, or a pandering, gamble move?

Bob, I had my son at almost 42. I treasure every single thing about him. Maybe my only brilliant move.

I agree with you about elections being popularity contests. Unfortunately the electorate is woefully ignorant and has limited knowledge of history. In the world we live in, are these 4 the best America can offer ???? It is pitiful if the answer is yes. Can Obama or Palin stand up to Putin and the emerging aggressive Russian bear ???? Are they qualified to be commander in chief ?? Can Biden or McCain reform Washington ??? Can any of them manage the biggest most complex enterprise in the history of mankind ??? The answer is no !! We have terrible choices for public office because who wants to be thrown in the sewer all the time ? Jamie Dimon, Jeff Immelt, Henry Paulson. Robert Rubin, Meg Whitman have what it takes to be the cief executive. But they are all too successful in private enterprise to roll around in the muck. we get what we deserve and we are getting it up the

From what I've heard so far, Palin definitely shores up the conservative Christian/evangellical base for McCain. I was listening to CNN earlier today, and the evangelical reps were practically fawning.

As for Hillary supporters, once you take away her gender, Palin is as anti-Hillary as you can get. Pro NRA, anti gay marriage, pro drilling, anti Roe v Wade.

Will be interesting to see where this goes.

Prairieville, La
she can balance a budget with one hand in the oil companies pockets!

I have been researching this statment for back up. I only can find this comment on Democrat message boards/blogs.

Since I don't know that much about her Bob, would you be so kind to supply me with the article that shows she has a hand in the oil companies pockts? All I found out which is negative is that her husband works for BP. Thanks

Sour grapes?

No, but if you really feel being a former Miss Alaska, being able to snowmobile, having 5 children, etc., etc. as you pointed out, qualifies her to be one heart beat away from a very uninspired, old man, then that is a real cause for concern, wouldn't you say?.

Politically, I think she is a brilliant pick.

If he is going after the PUMA vote, though, it may come back to bite him. You have people on the right talking about how no one wants to watch a woman get old in office, making fun of her pantsuits, her conservative business look that is characteristic of women who had to dress that way to break down the door so women my age (and Palin's) could go to work dressed more femininely.

Is a hotter, younger woman over Hillary really going to appeal to those women?

That is newsworthy - but not completely unheard of.

Most women have a baby, go right home, and never really sit down again after that- it's not like maternity leave is a big vacation.

:rotfl:...welcome to the world, SJ! ^5 to jdarg!
