Just scanned it as I don't have the strength, but I got: multiple weapons, at least 4 crime scenes, killed his mother, then drove down the street randomly shooting people until he ended at the plant and reportedly killed himself. And may have set one house on fire.

I'll go w/ chronic mental problems and/or job loss & divorce.

A friend of a friend lives in Alabama. He awoke in the middle of the night and thought he heard someone in his house. He grabbed his 12 gauge and went to the kitchen. There stood the intruder eating from the refrigerator. He was ordered to freeze, or words to that effect, whereupon the intruder threw the boom box he had stolen at my friend of a friend and charged him.

Now, let's say you did not own a firearm and a huge guy charges you in your own home, mind you in the middle of the night. I have the utmost respect for law enforcement but realistically, how can a police officer help you in that situation?

I was more surprised at the three decades part of this. But, if someone successfully gets in my house and sits in front of my refigerator eating, I would presume this person was high and or nor very bright or maybe both. And, I would just walk out the backdoor, calling 911, while I was in safety.

If an intruder was standing over my bed in the middle of the night? That's another story, but I doubt someone could get that close to me in this house.

The great part about 911 these days is that calling it and not saying anything will get the cops to your house faster. Just don't hang up or they'll call back.

it will be interesting to see the weaponry involved

It was an automatic weapon used exactly in the way for which it was designed, hunting down and killing humans in the most efficient manner. If all the victims also had automatic weapons maybe the outcome would have been different. After a tragic incident like this we should all be permitted to carry concealed assault weapons.

Whats with the generalizations? Whatever happened to tolerance for persons with different points of view or different values and cultures?

This is a constitutional argument. I know plenty of what you might call "rednecks" that are on your side of the issue.

Did you guys hear about the gunman who walked into a church in Illinois and killed the baptist preacher? The preacher's Bible deflected the first bullet. Its too bad someone in the pews was'nt packing. The preacher might still be here.

There will be more and more crimes like this with people snapping. However, it has nothing to do with the argument over the second amendment. It has everything to do with the state of the nation, economy and mental illness.

I do agree that everyone's opinion should be respected......not agreeing on every issue makes the world go 'round and hopefully can open minds to other possibilities.
I sincerely hope there aren't more crimes like this and that we as a society do not become tolerant of this because of the current economic conditions, etc......This is the time when unity (IMHO) is crucial. Just my $0.03. ;-)

Cheers and have a beautiful day~~~~~

It's all your perspective - some look at these killings and think arming the victims would save lives, while I think it would save many more lives if nutjobs didn't have such easy access to weapons that let them kill so many so easily.

Very true...and if you really need us faster, rip the phone out of the wall....

thats if you have an old school phone still..I don't know...

Usually an open line or busy line makes me step it up a bit...

I'm getting off topic..now I'm really going to bed!

I don't think for most folks that it's a "need" to own kind of thing. It's a "want" situation.
Exactly - I know many people who like to collect all kinds of guns and then like to shoot them from time to time. As in a hobby. :dunno: For instance, when Mr. IBD and his buddies go quail hunting they also like to target practice with high powered weapons. I dont see the harm in it. They are responsible gun owners and are safe when firing.

Yes, perspective is correct. Unfortunately a *nutjob* would find a way to get the gun no matter what. How sad to read what happened. I dont think that anyone could have defended themself in that situation. :sosad:
