I got your point, but you are missing mine. Policy based on "how does this affect me" is often counterproductive for civilized society as a whole, much less for the aforementioned me. Providing expanded welfare gives little incentive for those out of work to quickly get back to whatever work they can find (see Uncle Eddie's holding out for a position in management). Stricter gun control laws are shown to increase violent crime.

Do you really understand your rhetoric or do you just parrot back whatever you hear on talk radio?

Your dragging in expanded welfare to a discussion on the 2nd amendment I don't see the relevance. However I do see a direct link to decreased social programs and a rise in violent gun crimes.

Is there an actual link between stricter gun control laws and increase in violent crime or is it just that the gun lobby tracks statistics more when trying to rationalize arming every man, woman, and child?

If you'd actually read what I told you to read in post 63, I conceded some limits on what the public can own. Since the argument is so outdated, you won't have trouble getting 2/3 of the House and 2/3 of the Senate make the changes to send to the states for ratification.
machine guns aren't under the 2nd's umbrella. what makes you think the attorney general can't stop the stupidity? analogies about welfare and state's rights are best made whilst hoisting a mint julep, and may or may not be beneath you.

go get a job working for greenspan...he's not into regulation either

Let's just sieze everything that could inflict damage and count on the government to protect us. Hell with the Constitution.

Yes, I understand it and I very, very rarely listen to talk radio, but I know that's an easy strawman.

My dragging in other examples the law of unintended consequences has everything to do with it.

As to your last question, yes. Europe. Look what I've posted on it.

the federal reserve has regulatory and supervisory responsibility over banks that are part of the system, how does this conflict with the constitution? greenspan made his quick book deal upon his exit....his legacy is fair game. i believe he has nerve damage in his hands from sitting on them.

They have regulatory responsibility since they insure deposits (which I don't agree with, BTW). I agree Greenspan kept rates too low for too long, but that doesn't really have much to do with the 2nd.

:chill: This mint julep sure is tasty! I wonder....are ther any other blue dog southern democrats here who believe in gun rights? I know the President claims to be a believer in responsible gun ownership.
