Andy - I would love it if April 15, 2009 goes down in history as the day everyone decided to get actively involved in government, made it about the issues, and demanded that the people they elected with massive voter turnout in every election acted in the best interests of every American - not just the ones who gave the most $ or has the best lobbyists. A new national holiday on par with 4th of July for when we decided to take back our government.

How wonderful it would be if I get a 5 course meal of crow for dismissing this one day event (in favor of repeated and regular involvement in local politics) and thinking that many of the people involved were more worked up because of partisan issues than by an actual desire to change government policies - many of which they refused to acknowledge have been in effect for years.

We can still hope that the "Change" in the way Washington does business is coming. No more partisanship politics, no more former lobbyist in important positions, etc. I still have hope.

Another pipe dream...Out of this April 15, 2009 comes many more such gatherings that finally lead to a new, vibrant party consisting of people interested in things like term limits for Congress, one page income tax forms, limited government, assistance to only those who need it, meaningful immigration reform where only those who apply according to our immigration laws are allowed in our country and finally, the right to earn and spend our earnings as we see fit, something that seems to be slowly but surely slipping away from us. There are many more problems that I haven't mentioned such as health care, entitlement programs etc. but you get the idea.

I am tired of both the Democratic and Republican parties, SB44, and I now feel I am not alone. Third party initiatives have always been weak and somewhat disorganized as well as fringe groups in one way or another. Is it possible that at this point in time that could be the "change" so many of us are really looking for? I would hope so but I doubt it. One thing is for certain. If such a change is to occur, it will have to be your generation who does it. Ours has already had their successes and failures. It is now you and your compatriot's turn.

My generation will be here to praise, criticize and encourage yours but the work must be yours.

Silence is Consent--you are correct! And is that how you and the protesters operated, and was that, in fact, your mantra in the 8 years prior to the current administration? Were you "silent" on the illegal Irag war that has and will continue to cost us wasted billions and KILLED hundred of thousands of innocent lives, are you "deaf" to the Constitution being ignored dismantled by Bush/Cheney, were you weren't even at the event, but you feel you can inform an audience here?? Yes, silence is consent.

...Or do you just "cherry pick" your particular outrage at your own "whim," or when it is convenient to you? Probably both.

Let me clarify, for one last time, the recipe and the reasons behind the Teabagging Party 2009:

Add one part White Supremecist racists, one part angry, disenfranchised, conservative white Republicans who lost an election (and Faux News), and one part laissez faire capitalists, whose clock ran out on Reagans watch and will, frankly, never return.

Mix until all ingredients are totally "blended" and frothy. Serve up well chilled.

I certainly respect your right to disagree with the ideas promoted by these events. But I don't understand the need to dinegrate and attack those who participated.

Frankly, while some may be joining sort of late, I think history will bear out that fiscal responsibility would be the correct course for this nation and deficit spending will lead us to disaster. I don't care which party is doing it, it is bad policy.

I think if you go back and read what I have written, you will find I have been fairly consistent in what I say and was critical of Bush for his fiscal irresponsibility.

I will continue to speak my mind and express my thoughts. Obama is leading America in the total correct direction IMO, and his ideas are clearly supported by 70% of all Americans--some of whom you and your very cold hearted cohorts, 30A shopping and Margarita, may also disagree with--but, hey! Its a free country.
