Andy - I would love it if April 15, 2009 goes down in history as the day everyone decided to get actively involved in government, made it about the issues, and demanded that the people they elected with massive voter turnout in every election acted in the best interests of every American - not just the ones who gave the most $ or has the best lobbyists. A new national holiday on par with 4th of July for when we decided to take back our government.
How wonderful it would be if I get a 5 course meal of crow for dismissing this one day event (in favor of repeated and regular involvement in local politics) and thinking that many of the people involved were more worked up because of partisan issues than by an actual desire to change government policies - many of which they refused to acknowledge have been in effect for years.
We can still hope that the "Change" in the way Washington does business is coming. No more partisanship politics, no more former lobbyist in important positions, etc. I still have hope.

IJS.
