Dollar no longer tumbling. It put in a low last July and has since climbed sharply against other currencies. I know it kills liberals and the AP, but the US still has the world's reserve currency and is the safe haven for frightened investors.

Which liberals?

All of the "liberals" that I talk to prefer the dollar and our economy to be strong. We root for our country (irrespective of our current president's party affiliation).

When folks use the term liberal I get the sense that they refer mainly to the social beliefs of lefties rather than our fiscal beliefs- Ever heard the expression Socially Liberal but Fiscally Conservative? This is actually pretty common.

Let's not forget the last time the economy was solid the party to which most libs attach themselves was in power.

:dunno:

And, would you believe I almost wrote 'a broad?'

Traderx, I hope you travel to Italy with a broad and have a big time! Italy is groovy - when in Rome~~~~~~oh, you can get some fancy custom made size 15 shoes there, too!

We're still thinking Iceland, etc~~~~~and, the North Pole~~~~~

Geo - I hear ya' on socially liberal and fiscally conservative. I wish there could be more of a balance. Perhaps we need two more parties or some melding of the two major ones we currently have. I have some beliefs of both sides, but enjoy all of the opinions that arise here~~~~

Cheers!

I was referring to the non-AP press. I should have been more clear...

Socially Liberal and Fiscally Conservative is an excellent definition of a Libertarian.

When do you believe to be the last time our economy was solid? :dunno:

The Dollar's climb against the Pound has been even more startling.

The graph needs to show more time - IIRC the dollar was at .65 against the pound in the early 2000s.

Course Bush is the person who ordered the troops to invade Iraq which led to the outster of Sadam under whom the shoe thrower's punishment would have been more severe. Complex world we live in.

I just read this thread for the first time today and this post caught my eye.

I would guess under Saddam anyone throwing a shoe at Bush would be a national hero.

Andy, don't let Bob get to you. Just be thankful he changed that awful "tongue" avatar! He's an intellegent guy....he just has a different view of things. I'm probably a little left of you...and Bob's WAY left of me. (I'm guessing based on his views on limited issues....I could be wrong!)

I appreciate our military. I've got buddies going over and buddies already there. Their motives are honorable. It's the motives of those that send them that worry me.

The way things are going these days(Russians bringing weapons of war into our hemisphere, North Korea and Iran becoming more aggressive and the dollar tumbling) I would just assume have most of our troops on active duty here......just in case Hannibal comes knocking at the walls of the city.

yeah i'm way left of you! voted for gw twice....i have to live with that

The graph was posted with a one-year time frame to refute the post that said the dollar was tumbliing. The dollar is no longer tumbling as the graph clearly depicts. :D
