Looks like the Dyson sucks the most. 
Dyson. Seriously, you will not regret it, they really are worth the hype. I was lucky enough to be given one as a gift a few years ago, and it is far and away the best vacuum I've ever used, period. I have a dog and a cat (or twoand I'm pretty sure I would've ripped the carpet out with my bare hands by now if not for the Dyson. I would set up a shrine to it if I had the space.
Which model do you have?
I abhor having to shop/replace things like vacuums, coffee makers, appliances, cars... but I gotta say those Dyson commercials really have me intrigued. And yes... the Ball DOES look cool. I'm convinced I could vacuum the house w/ all the agile flair of 'Mrs. Doubtfire' if I only had a Dyson Ball!!!!
I have a Dyson, a Hoover and a Rainbow and honestly they are ok, but I am not crazy about any of them.
The Dyson is great for floor and carpets. The Hoover is very lightweight and great for quick pickups, the Rainbow is the best at deep cleaning but a pain in the butt to use.
None of them are great for wand use.

We've had an Oreck for 18 years and it has cost us nothing in repairs, just the normal bag and belt replacement. I just replace the agitator bar about once every 3-4 years. There's a store in PCB. I wouldn't have any other brand!
Dyson worth the money as you will never replace it. best vacuum i have owned.
I have all hardwood floors and just a few area rugs. I have had a mighty mite for 20 years and it's my favorite appliance. Still has the same suction. light and portable, easy to store. I'd have a cow if something happened to it.
