That's sort of my point...the ways of calculating these various indicators have been tinkered with a lot in the past few years. For the CPI, the market basket mean was measured until the Bushies took charge at the Department of Labor, now they select a median representative consumer product to represent the whole economy. These numbers are not credible, and are not reflecting the reality most people can see all around them.
