Could you give us the Corn Casserole recipe?

BR, the tomato pie sounds great (and easy!)
~

Sure, it's my sister's recipe and it's really good!

Julie's Corn Casserole
1 box jiffy cornbread mix
1 can of whole kernal corn not drained
1 can of cream style corn
2 eggs

Topping
1/2 stick buttter
1 small onion chopped
8 oz. sour cream
Cheddar cheese grated

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Saute onion in butter over medium heat until onions are clear. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream. In a bowl, mix casserole ingredients together and pour into a shallow casserole (I use 9x9) . Pour sour cream mixture on top and spread evenly. Cook until golden brown and cover with grated cheese.

OK- I'm getting my act together (and my menu). Off to Whole Foods today 'cause you know it will be nightmarish tomorrow. Probably today too

Mimi (my mom) is doing turkey/gravy. MIL is making yeast rolls. Bdarg is making his yummy pecan pie. A fiend is making pecan pie and cranberry pie.

DONNA- thanks for the wine recs!!!!!!

toasted pecans seasoned with Cavender's Greek Seasoning
cheese/crackers
carrots/sugarsnaps/dip

"smashed" potatoes (Yukons!)
Southern style green beans (cooked w/ nasty ham hock & onions)
corn pudding
green salad w/ dried cherries, walnuts, goat cheese, apples, and maple
vinaigrette
roasted parsnips/carrots
a brick of Plugra or similar "real" butter

I just discovered I can make the grocery list AND post on SoWal!! :D

BTW- RiverOtter- on the Food Network site, Paula Deen has instructions on making your own Turducken. Reads like an arts and crafts project!

jdarg...I am getting ready to leave for the store to get the FRESH BUTTERBALL that PawPaw wants! No coobeedoo* turkey for PawPaw! I asked him to make the list and he specifies #15 lb. Fresh Butterball (there's only 5 of us). I went yesterday after lunch and they were all out...a shipment was coming in this morning and now I feel like I need to sleep outside the grocery to get one!

*coobeedoo = one of my many made up words, means fancy dancy la tee da!
PawPaw even uses that word out in public with his friends!

1 1/2 pounds of asparagus
3 tablespoons good olive oil
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
4 bacon strips

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Toss asparagus in a bowl with the olive oil, salt, and pepper. Place on a baking sheet in one layer and place the bacon strips along the rows of asparagus so that the strips touch all of the asparagus stalks. Roast in the oven for 20 minutes, or until the bacon is cooked.

Thank you so much bsmart. I love asparagus and am always looking for new ways to prepare it. This will be on the Turkey day table for sure!!!
