Large, small, cross body, hobo, leather, PVC, designer bags, over the shoulder, colors, design, rivets, grommets, clutch, exotic skins, like snake crocodile, ostrich? straw, sequins, pearls, professional looking? what's your bag??

What are your pet peeves about a handbag?

I've been on a Italian designer leather handbag kick of late, borsa bellisima!

Mangy, I can honestly say that I am really old and I have NEVER in my whole life found a bag I LOVED. Ugh.
Things I do like: Shoulder strap, outside pockets, inside pockets, LIGHT colored lining. I like the lightness of a small bag, but always end up with a large one.
Pet peeves: Useless zipper section inside in the middle, DARK lining.

Most every bag I have, and there are many, didn't cost a lot although I do have a few that were more than they are worth. Most of them are just big black holes with cell phones hopelessly lost at the bottom.:pissed::bang:

Easy. My Louis Vuitton Chelsea with the Tapage bag charm. I'm on my second Chelsea which was bought in 2005. They last forvever so $1400 is a bargain. They don't make them any more so I don't know what I'll do when this one wears out. Our daughter has the large Never Full, but I don't like them because they're open at the top. The Chelsea has a zipper top so that when on a plane, for example, I don't have to worry about my stuff dumping out like I would with a Never Full.

My other favorite bag is my classic black, quilted-leather Chanel bag with leather and gold chain strap. The leather is so soft that it feels like "buttah."

Ameribag. I am on my second one - they are the Swiss Army knives of purses. There is a pocket, clip, or zipper pocket for everything. The only things that end up in the main compartment are the wallet and checkbook.

Although, I can appreciate the craftsmanship of a Louis Vuitton-- vegetable dyed, etc.--personally, I do not like the look of the bag with LV's all over it, but that is just me. I have found many good Italian handbag designers who sell comparable bags, canvas and leather, at much lower prices and pretty designs, like paisley or colors. Giudi is one of them. So is Isanti. But, I do know people with LV's who have had them and used them consistently for 10 years and the bag still looks good, and I guess they got their monies worth out of them. Not only that, they hold their value, even vintage ones.

That's one reason why I buy the Daumier because all most people notice is the checkerboard pattern. You have to get really close to the bag to see the LV logo. Obviously the more fashion-oriented people recognize the Daumier by now, but still it's not covered with a logo. Another reason for the Daumier is that most of the fakes are the classic "Monogram" canvas covered with LV.

Pet peeves? I hate my black LV Epi. The opening is too small and the interior is so dark (I hear ya, DD) that it's hard to find anything in it. Also the leather is just too hard. I still carry it when I need a big black bag.

I also hate my big black Gucci because it has too many pockets. The irony is that I bought it because it has so many pockets. But I can never remember which pocket I put an item into, so I can never find anything. :dunno: Our daughter took that one off my hands.

When our daughter was born, I wanted a stylish diaper bag. So I bought a beautiful LV with an all-leather interior, a cross-strap, and just enough pockets. Our daughter started carrying it when she happened to find it my closet, and every time she carries it, she gets compliments. I'd say it's vintage. :)

So Mangy, are you going to buy a bag that works with the color of the upcoming season, Bordeaux? I'm tempted. Not an expensive one because next year it will be so 2011. That's why I stick with the classics instead of the trends.
