Red this for a perspective. (where have I heard this word before---hmmm)

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/he_lied_about_bill_ayers.html

The people that will not give up on trying to make Obama and Ayers out as "BFFs" really don't want to know the truth, so you are probably wasting your breath, but this is a great source, and confirms everything I have read elsewhere on what is proving to be a rather silly subject, like the birth certificate stuff, the lapel pin, the Rezko connection, labeling him as Muslim ( to scare people that believe all Muslims are terrorists), foreign financiers of his campaign (false), etc.

It would seem his associations did not matter, but, that is the subject of this thread.

My opinion, Obama is part of the Chicago political machine. And dating back to the 60's I have a low oinion of that.

But I hope my instincts are wrong & he proves to be a good leader.

The associations did not matter enough to vote for McCain, and they are certainly not relevant now unless Republicans want to pull a Clinton again by digging into his past, forming conspiracy theories, getting him to lie in front of a grand jury about embarrasing non-impeachable incidents, and then impeaching him. I think y'all need to stop being such sore losers and let it go. Quit listening to that fruitcake Burnie Thompson on the radio and relax.

1. His associations are what they are. The election is over. End of story.
2. Investigating Clinton was counterproductive and doing it to Obama probably would be as well. A much better use of Republican's time would be to find our way back to some recognizable form of conservatism and stop giving away money like drunk sailors while we lead our country farther and farther towards socialism.
3. I prefer to be loyal opposition rather than a sore loser.
4. I don't listen to Burnie Thompson.
5. We could all relax a bit.

At this point the associations don't seem to mean much, but I didn't start the thread. I never have heard Burnie Thompson, guess I lead a sheltered life. Enlighten me please. I really don't listen to a lot of talk radio, only occaisionally in my car. I prefer to listen to oldies on my sirius radio.;-)

You are braver than I am, I had never heard of Thompson either but did not want to admit it.:rotfl: I too prefer music to talk, except sports talk.

Found Thompson's website "Radio Free Bay County" and found this:

Burnie champions personal freedom and responsibility, standing on the foundation of Natural Law. That is to say that he believes people are born with the rights to life, liberty and property. Government should exist to prevent encroachments against these individual rights. He laments that politics has turned into a contemptible system whereby too many people and groups seek to benefit at the expense of others. Furthermore, he believes people can pursue their interests and take care of each other without the dictates of a Nanny State.

From this little blurp, sounds like a pretty cool guy to me.

He has some sound libertarian capitalist, free-market views. I like his views about random check points by FHP (he's against them). I didn't mind his anti-obama rhetoric prior to the election. Lately however he's been going off the deep end and so have his callers. They're getting into things about Obama's citizenship. He seems unable to just move on. My main criticism has to do with his behavior post-election.

The point of the question is:

1) To make them aware of any conflicts of interest - such as someone's spouse being a lobbyist for an industry the applicant would be working on legislation for etc.

2) To make the administration aware of any questionable associations so that they can then use JUDGMENT or do further inquiries to determine if that person should still be hired.

Just as many actually researched the Obama-Ayers connection or Palin's husband belonging to an Alaskan Secessionist party and found them to be of little consequence, the answer to that question may be researched and determined to be of little consequence as well.
