Here's the official sicko report for the day:

My rash actually looks better, but it still hurts. Instead of the "just-got-stung-by-a-bee" pain, I have the "fell-off-my-bike-3-days-ago, cracking-scabs" pain. The only time it is really aggravating is when it stabs me in my sleep (more on that later.) However, I am also sitting around in a nightgown. I have to go back to work tomorrow, and dread putting on real clothes.

The bronchitis is making a mess of things. I usually get over it pretty quickly once I get on antibiotics, but my immune system is down. (Obviously.) I've been taking Hydrocodone like candy for the pain, but thought I'd try a night without it Saturday. Mistake. I woke myself up coughing, and the coughing aggravated the pain. Yesterday I called a friend who is a doctor and asked him about taking some of my prescription cough medicine with the Hydrocodone, and he told me that it would take care of the coughing--I wouldn't be breathing, either, but I wouldn't be coughing. He told me to just take the Hydrocodone; it will help with the coughing, and he assured me I wasn't going to get hooked on it from short-term use, and I need it right now.

My doctor wanted to hear from me today if I wasn't better. I called, and my nurse called me back saying that he had called in PREDNISONE...:yikes:I almost burst into tears. I told her that I was supposed to be sleeping, and that I can't sleep on Prednisone...:bang: Then I put myself through the indignity of asking for more Hydrocodone, promising that I wouldn't become addicted to it, but that I need it for the coughing.

Did I mention that I have to go back to work tomorrow? I only get 1/2 day per month sick leave, and I've been out 2 1/2 days...At least my boys will be happy that I'm too sick to yell at them.

I'm pondering that very question right now. I'm supposed to haul myself back to the doctor today if I'm not feeling much better. I don't feel like getting up and going...I think that means that I probably should go...yuck...

Momma Kitty reporting in...get up and go to the doctor! :nono1:

Mama Kitty, I have a secondary problem--I only have enough gas for one more trip to town, and I have to go to work tomorrow!

He's calling me back soon, which is just as good. I just want to talk him out of the Prednisone...

:yikes:...it is a wonder drug, but OMG! If you take it, I will be here to hold
your jittery hand and help you shut your mouth. I didn't have such help back in July. :D Seroquel for sleep. I feel like a drug pusher.

I took it last summer for my Mystery Virus, and I've taken it before for stubborn cases of bronchitis. The only ill effect is that I can't sleep--I don't get jittery or wound up, I just stare at the ceiling for nights on end!

I've never even heard of Seroquel--I just looked it up and it sounds complicated. I'm going to become a health nut when I'm off all my drugs. I got so many pills now that I was tempted to put them in a bowl and pour milk over them this morning.

Nohall, prednisone will definitely do the trick. I've had infusions of prednisone many times and am usually on it (orally) at any given time several times a year. Just be thankful this isn't something that you'll have to take forever.

You'll finally get relief from your shingles and be fine before you know it! It truly IS a wonder drug.

good luck!

He gave me Medrol instead. I've never tried it, so we will see. When the nurse called and said that he was calling in Prednisone, I just asked her to ask for an alternative--Dr. Beebe has been adamant with me this week about getting a ton of sleep, and I don't sleep on Prednisone. That is the ONLY ill effect I have; it usually does help me get better quickly.

I had to laugh about the Medrol, and I'll call him in the morning about it. My sweet brother went and picked it up for me, since I'm almost out of gas.* The bottle said (and I quote) "Take 8 tablets once daily for 5 days." Sure enough, there are 40 tiny tablets in the bottle. I think they are supposed to be a graduated dose--start with 8 and work down. Like I said, I'll call in the morning.

But I think y'all will get a kick out of my pile o' meds. Ladies and Gentlemen, tomorrows breakfast:
