The 2nd Annual Reeling in the Emerald Coast - Conservation Day is coming to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park on Saturday, April 18, 2026. This free family event, hosted by the park and Walton County 4-H, combines outdoor adventure with hands-on learning for the next generation of coastal stewards.
The highlight for many young anglers is the Kids Fishing Tournament. Registration begins at 9:00 AM, and lines go in the water from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Beyond the competition, the morning is packed with interactive activities designed for all ages, making it easy to explore the delicate ecosystem that makes South Walton so unique. Local conservation experts will be on hand to share insights into the wildlife and habitats that thrive within the park's 1,600 acres of stunning coastal landscape.
The Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park play a vital role in making these programs possible. As a non-profit volunteer organization, they work tirelessly to support the park through fundraising, environmental education, and resource management. From maintaining the tram service to organizing community events, the Friends ensure the park remains a pristine sanctuary for both visitors and local wildlife.
Whether you are helping a little one cast their first line or chatting with experts about local gulf conservation, the event promises an unforgettable experience on the coast.

About Topsail Hill Preserve State Park
Often described as a South Walton wonder, Topsail Hill Preserve State Park is named for its majestic white quartz dunes that rise like sandy mountains above the Gulf. The park is home to three rare coastal dune lakes—Campbell, Morris, and Stallworth - which are found in only a few places worldwide. These freshwater lakes sit just steps from the salt water, creating a unique habitat for various bird species and rare plants.
Located on the west end of Scenic 30A, the park offers 3.2 miles of secluded, white sand beaches with majestic dunes over 25 feet tall. Visitors can explore over 15 miles of hiking and biking trails that wind through ancient pine flatwoods and precious coastal habitat. The park also features a world-class campground with cozy cabins and tent sites, a seasonal tram to transport guests to the secluded beach, and plenty of opportunities for paddling or fishing.
