Picture Pefect Fishin'

The weather pattern finally changed from sloppy to "chamber of commerce". We have had some calm seas, light winds and crystal clear water the past several days.

While it's always a treat to watch the fish chase your bait around 40 feet under the boat, we had the extra treat of finding a big log floating on top with hundreds of Mahi swimming around today.

Flat calm, gin clear and a big school of lit up Mahi make for a perfect day. We allready had a good mess of bottom fish in the box so we stopped at 20 dolphin and called another boat over to let some more folks in on the fun.

A great board but even more than this in the box!

The Kings have pulled a dissapearing act the past few days but we have still managed to find one every now and then to add some size to the board.

This gal called me up to book a 3 hr trip-I had gone to junior high with her!

Another good King

Of course we are still trying to fish "around" the Red Snappers. The dang things are everywhere. I have caught a few this week trolling for kings ! Three more weeks and we get to keep 'em for 48 days- the shortest season ever on the most abundant fish in the Northern Gulf.

The main target fish lately has been my favorite eating - Triggers. Folks ask me what is the best way to cook 'em and I tell 'em "any way except burn it and it'll be wonderful". I took some of Grayton Beaches finest (?) yesterday morning on a 3-hour freezer trip.

The local boys have the knack for hooking those "hard to catch" Trigs!

The vacationing folks can figure it out well enough to get a good mess too!

Some More Happy Anglers

The bite should stay good for the foreseeable future. The big schools of bait are just now showing up in close in the morning and we have the big push of offshore water bringing the Mahi in. I would imagine the Kings (and Wahoo) will show up in close along with some bigger Dolphin in the next couple days,

Get out there and catch something!
