March 25, 2015 by SoWal Staff

Clutch, satchel, tote or hobo – whatever type of handbag you prefer, you'll find it at Purses with a Purpose. The much-anticipated purse extravaganza moves to Grand Boulevard at Sandestin this year. Purses with a Purpose is a two-day purse sale and auction where new and gently used designer handbags are donated to be sold and auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting Shelter House, the domestic and sexual violence center serving Okaloosa and Walton counties.

The event kicks off with a VIP Party on Friday, March 27 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. featuring a purse fashion show with makeup by Pin Up Girls Hair Studio and music by DJ Shane of Rock the House. A $5 donation nets you the first pick of purses, access to designer handbag auctions, food and drinks.

The purse fashion show on Friday night will take you on a fashion journey through the decades. Emceed by Jami Ray of 30A Street Style, the show will feature fabulous period hair and makeup by Pin Up Girls Hair Studio and music from DJ Shane of Rock the House. In addition to all the fabulous purses, shoppers can also accessorize with an array of scarves donated by Ella Madison Boutique and sunglasses from Lynn Roberts International.

Purses with a Purpose reopens on Saturday, March 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with free admission, deep discounts on all remaining purses, muffins and mimosas. In addition to hundreds of purses, scarves donated by Ella Madison Boutique and sunglasses from Lynn Roberts International will be up for sale.

Shelter House will continue accepting purse donations through March 23 at its administrative office located at 102 Buck Drive in Fort Walton Beach. For more information about Purses with a Purpose or donating, please contact Shelter House at 850-243-1201.

To date, Purses with a Purpose has raised more than $41,000 to support critical services, including a 24/7 hotline, emergency shelter, peer counseling, support groups and youth services.

Shelter House is the state-certified domestic and sexual violence center serving victims in Okaloosa and Walton counties.
