Cozy Up for Food and Fun At The Hub

November 22, 2016 by Audrey Johnson

Football, fire pits, food and friends define weekends at The Hub. Executive Chef Steve Bucalo rolled out one heck of a brunch menu this fall, so we met up with the crew to test out a few bites. We also got the scoop on specials for tailgating and catering, and we found out the venue is completely winterized. These guys think of everything.

Local Smoke is, well, a hub for all things Southern, smoked, slow cooked and fried. Chef Steve creates simple, familiar dishes with flavor as dense as his knowledge of food. With the addition of brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30-3 comes new menu items, a few of which have become instant classics.

“I’ve wanted to do brunch for a while so I really wanted to explore that menu,” says Chef Steve.

The perfect Hub breakfast starts with a 4-ounce cathead biscuit. Then it’s stuffed with folded eggs, brisket and cheese for a meal so good you’ll want it for breakfast...and lunch…and dinner. Then again, they do have a Bloody Mary that comes with a rib in it, a glorious meal in itself.

Sour cream pancakes served with candied bacon and lemon curd are crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. While the Lobster Benedict with poached eggs and smoked hollandaise is a warm and creamy way to ease into the day. Both are available all weekend long, along with Buckets of Bubbles and a carafe of oj.

Breakfast in Florida isn’t complete until you’ve had grilled Red Shrimp splayed on top of stone ground cheese grits with pepper relish. It’s all about paying homage to our Southern coastal roots. And on Sundays only, you can enjoy $10 bottomless Mimosas all day long.

The Hub is Gameday central with enough specials to keep you fed and watered through all four quarters. Nashville Hot Grouper Bites have a little spice in the batter and come topped with cilantro, jalapeno and a honey and lime vinaigrette for a cool finish.

The Hub Nachos with brisket and gooey nacho cheese will have you fighting over the best bite. With enough chips and toppings to fill a quarter sheet tray, there’s plenty for the picking. Jumbo wings are brined and flash fried for the perfect taste. You can get them on gamedays for $2 off. Pair it with $2 off draft beer pitchers for a winning combo.  As always, Happy Hour at The Hub is from 4-6 every day with drink specials and $5 apps.

Most people think of The Hub as strictly an outdoor venue, but they really have the best of both worlds. Weatherizing in the lounge makes it easy to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. New electric screens surrounding the lounge keep in 80% of the heat, and heaters in the ceiling keep it nice and toasty on chilly nights at the beach. The Hub also has two fireplaces and a fire pit to appease your inner pyro.

Parties at The Hub are a blast. Whether renting out The Hub for a corporate party, hosting wedding guests, or throwing a tailgate party for a group of twenty, The Hub has catering covered. They even cater offsite. Now through the end of the year, The Hub is throwing in a special perk for you and your guests when you book a party. Choose from a free appetizer, wings, a specialty cocktail, desert, or a champagne toast. To book a party contact banquets@hub30a.com.

The Hub is located on Scenic Hwy. 30A across from Prominence. With seven places to eat, happy hour daily from 4-6, a jumbotron to catch the game, and live music on the stage, letting it all hang out at The Hub will leave a smile on your face. Visit www.hub30a.com to see menus and plan your next party. Keep up with all the happenings at The Hub on Facebook. And call 850.213.0782 with any questions. See you at The Hub, open daily for lunch, dinner and drinks, and now serving brunch on the weekends.
