Star Gazing at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park
Bummer dude!
This event has already happened. To be sure you don't miss anymore events in South Walton, visit the SoWal Events Calendar.
Details
The members of the Northwest Florida Astronomy Association invite you to Star Gaze at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park with them Friday, April 6th. The NWFAA will begin setting up solar telescopes about 3 hours prior to sunset (4pm) and safely observe our closest star, the Sun. Once the Sun sets, transition to night time observing.
Different size and design telescopes will be set up by dusk and celestial objects will be chosen with an eye to visual observation and variety. The objects visible will depend on the season and time of night but normally include bright galaxies and nebulae, star clusters, and planets.
While there will be plenty of telescopes available to view through, you're invited you to bring your own telescopes/binoculars and join in the fun. Make sure you stop by the welcome table and pick up a free Sky Map.
The star gaze is free but normal state park fees apply. The park closes the gate at sundown so make sure you arrive before then. For further information visit the Star Gaze Event website or to make sure the weather has not caused a cancellation, please call the park at (850) 267-8330.

Park programs are made possible by Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. Come out and explore one of the most beautiful state park preserves in South Walton, Florida.
Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, located on the west side of Scenic 30A in South Walton, offers a wide variety of natural resources including 3.2 miles of secluded, white sand beaches with majestic dunes over 25 feet tall. Three rare coastal dune lakes provide excellent freshwater fishing. Although boats are not allowed, fishing from the shoreline yields bass, bream, panfish, and catfish. Lakes, pristine beaches, old-growth long leaf pines, sand pine scrub, and a variety of wetlands offer a bird-watching and hiking paradise. Visitors may bike, walk, or enjoy a quick ride to the beach on our timely tram service to swim, fish, sunbathe, or beachcomb. Gregory E. Moore RV resort features a (non-heated) swimming pool and shuffleboard courts. Furnished bungalows are available for weekly stays. A camp store offers a variety of camping items, as well as snacks and drinks.
Florida State Parks are treasures waiting for your discovery!
