Bruno's Pizza Bustling in WaterSound Beach

November 24, 2014 by Manny Chavez

Bruno’s Pizza owner Jeff Goodman still remembers how happy he was the day he opened his store back in 1990. Located in Seagrove Plaza for 24 years, Jeff’s pizza business soon outgrew his small space. He closed the Seagrove store on Nov. 31, 2013 and opened the new Bruno’s Pizza six days later at WaterSound Beach at the main entrance on the south side of Scenic 30A.

“Next to moving down here 25 years ago, this move is the smartest thing I’ve ever done,” says Jeff. “Sales are up 30% and our customers love it here. We only had 22 seats at our old place and we now have 92. Our beautiful outdoor deck is awesome, perfect for eating and visiting, plus we are now having outdoor live entertainment here on weekends.”

According to Jeff, the Bruno’s staff are happy campers in the newer, bigger environment.

“We were functioning in a sardine can in our old place,” he explains. “Looking back, I really don’t know how we did it. In such a small space that was designed for retail, we were totally just ‘making it happen!’  Our new space is designed for a restaurant, and at 1600 square feet, we are SOOO glad to be here! We can now make our dough and sauces as well as shred our own cheeses right here on site. This makes a huge difference in the quality of our product.”

Asked if there were any customer favorites, Jeff was quick to reply, “Oh yes, by far the most popular pizza and sub ingredient inclusions are our Boston butt and brisket which are smoked over hickory on site.”

Bruno's Pizza serves up the best pizza on 30A according to many locals and visitors. The restaurant continues to offer “Ladies Day” every Thursday for lunch from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. - a $5 buffet with all-you-can-eat pizza, salad, dessert and drink for $5 (and this includes tax).

Menu items can be ordered online for pick-up or delivery. Deliveries can be made to locations from Gulf Place to Carillon Beach for an additional $5 delivery fee.

“I can’t emphasize enough what a great dining experience people have when they come here," says Jeff. "Although we do offer delivery and pick-up service, our emphasis is to get the customer here. Once they have eaten here, they will be back. The east end of 30A is now booming and my timing to move here couldn’t have been better. People on this end don’t have to worry about getting caught up in the tourist traffic generated between Seagrove and WaterColor. Frankly, I didn’t even think about that aspect of it, but this location has been a real bonus for us."

Another bonus to locals is a special “Bonus Card” that can be obtained at Bruno’s that will discount menu purchases by 25%. This discount includes alcoholic purchases, but does not include buffet items.

With the additional floor space, more wall has allowed for multiple large-screen television placement for the sports-minded pizza-loving enthusiast. Game-day specials include $11 large pizzas and $2 longnecks.

Bruno’s Pizza menu includes a variety of pizzas with gourmet toppings, oven-baked subs, calzones, buffalo wing appetizers, salads, and for the sweet tooth, cinnamon knots to die for. Both domestic and imported beer are also available.

Bruno’s hours are Monday-Thursday, 11-9; Friday and Saturday, 11-10; Sunday, 11-9. Buffet is served daily from 11-2. For more information visit www.brunospizza30a.com. Outdoor live entertainment can enjoyed on Friday and Saturday nights, 6-9 p.m. Location: 6652 E. County Hwy. 3-A, WaterSound.
