CVHN Partners with Local Agencies to Provide Children's Dental Care
June 22, 2014 by SoWal Staff
Children's Volunteer Health Network (CVHN) is continuing to expand its mission of enhancing the lives of uninsured and under-insured school-aged children in Okaloosa & Walton Counties. To ensure all local kids are healthy and happy, CVHN's Just for Grins Mobile Dental Clinic is making its way to partner agencies and organizations to visit kids participating in their programs who may not have access to dental care.
"Ensuring each of our local children are happy and healthy is our goal," said Zach Billingsley, CVHN Executive Director, "and by partnering with agencies such as Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center, Children In Crisis, Shelter House, the YMCA, S4PSynergy and others, we can work together to help children in need."
Just for Grins travels to elementary schools in Walton County and sees children in 1st-4th grades who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program. Since 2008, over 4,300 children have been treated on the Mobile Dental Clinic resulting in over $1.6 million in free dental services for their families.
Children's Volunteer Health Network seeks to enhance the lives of uninsured and under-insured school-aged children by facilitating free, immediate access to medical, dental, vision, and mental health services by utilizing a network of over 95 local physicians, dentists and healthcare providers. CVHN also operates the Just for Grins Mobile Dental Clinic that visits local elementary schools and opened the CVHN Dental Clinic in 2012. Since inception, CVHN has facilitated more than 46,000 procedures for over 7,000 local children.
