George's at Alys Beach Has a New Look

March 3, 2014 by SoWal Staff

After five years in business, George's at Alys Beach unveils a new look when they re-open for the season Monday, March 3. Owners Ann and George Hartley are pleased to announce they’ve renovated George’s at Alys Beach, their casual dining spot on Scenic 30A. The new look includes an expanded kitchen, more seating, and updated interiors and will be unveiled when the restaurant re-opens for the season.

“With five great years under our belts, we decided it was the perfect time to give the restaurant a fluff,” says Ann Hartley. “Everything our guests have grown to love about George’s over the years – the people, the food, and the service – won’t change a bit. The design is polished and we hope it will make our guests’ dining experience even better.”

The remodel includes a 1,000-foot kitchen expansion, 40 additional seats including an extension of the covered side patio, new restrooms, and a complete interior facelift. The dining room will boast a more sophisticated look, swapping the brightly-colored accents for a more neutral palette.

Ann and George’s prized frog collection will remain an integral part of the space. The couple has commissioned Atlanta-based artist Anne Lomax to build driftwood mirrors with pieces from the collection woven into the frame. The mirrors will become the focal point of the main dining room.

Renovations will be completed by the first week of March, when the restaurant reopens for the season. For more information, please visit www.georgesatalysbeach.com.

George’s at Alys Beach is a casual restaurant owned and operated by Hartley Restaurant Group (La Cocina Mexican Grill and Bar and Seagrove Village MarketCafé) featuring regional coastal fare infused with global flavors. Dishes are made from scratch using high-quality ingredients from local sources and fall in two categories: “behave” (organic, spa-inspired dishes) and “misbehave” (traditional beach fare). George’s features a thoughtfully curated wine list, decadent desserts, a take-out menu, and private and semiprivate dining options.

George’s is open seasonally Monday through Saturday for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and for dinner from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
