December 26, 2024 by SoWal Staff
Fore Her invites the community to lace up for the annual Pink Run 5K, Walk and Survivor Stroll on Saturday, February 8 at 8:30am at the Village at Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin.
The Pink Run is one of Fore Her’s signature fundraisers, directly benefiting breast cancer survivors along the Emerald Coast in financial need while undergoing treatment.
This lively and memorable event includes a timed-5k Race, Walk, Survivor Stroll and After Party, complete with DJ, photo booth, a sampling of delectable bites, prizes and more! All participants are encouraged to “pink-out” while racing or walking with family and friends for this tremendous cause.
Early-Bird Registration for the 5K is $50 until January 15th and includes a free race t-shirt with the first 200 participants receiving a free race medal! (Registration is $60 after January 15th.) Also, Fore Her offers a discounted rate of $45 for breast cancer survivors and the Survivors' Stroll is free of charge.
“If you have ever witnessed a loved one affected by cancer, you know that the hardships can reach far beyond battling the disease itself as these women often have the added financial burden of bills and expenses not covered by insurance at an already taxing time in their lives,” says Ginny Richerson, Fore Her Patient Liaison. “Participants who join the Pink Run will be walking and running to raise these essential funds that can help pay for bills like utilities, rent and other living expenses.”
Packet pick-up will be at the Village of Baytowne Wharf concert stage on Friday, February 7th starting at 5:00 pm, and on the day of registration from 7:00 to 8:00 am. The 5k will start on Saturday, February 8th at 8:30 am.
“We are overwhelmed with gratitude to those in the community who have shown up and helped grow this event over the past three years,” says Amy Walsh, Fore Her Founder. What an impact the Pink Run has made in so many lives and will continue to do so as we grow in strides each year!”
Sponsorships are now available for this high-profile event, with numerous opportunities for local businesses and services to have maximum exposure and reach. For more information and available sponsorship opportunities, visit foreher.org/pinkrun or email ali@weilhousecreative.com.
Founded by Amy Walsh after her mother and aunt lost their battle with breast cancer, Fore Her was initially conceived as an annual golf benefit to assist local women battling breast cancer with the financial burden of the disease, but as the need grew, the nonprofit expanded to host three annual events to raise funds to continue to support those affected in Northwest Florida. Funds raised are used to provide temporary assistance with bills such as mortgage or rent payments, utilities, or helping pay for auto repairs so patients can get to treatments. Fore Her offers resources, hope, compassion, and education for all who are affected by breast cancer.
