Gimme Abbey Concert at Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village Apr. 24

February 27, 2014 by SoWal Staff

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation and Ocean Reef Vacation Rentals and Real Estate is delighted to present Gimme Abbey, a tribute to the two greatest bands in rock and roll history, on April 24 at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village. The Return and Satisfaction, two nationally acclaimed tribute bands, have joined forces for this special tribute that takes audiences back to the 60’s.

“We are extremely excited to secure this nationally touring program, which also coincides with the 50th anniversary celebration of the Beatles performance on the Ed Sullivan Show,” said Marcia Hull, CEO of the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation.

“We’ve heard from the community they want more live music at the Cultural Arts Village and we’re focused on bringing music that appeals to all ages.”

Two of the finest tribute bands, The Return embracing Beatlemania and Satisfaction who personify the Rolling Stones, bring back 1969 in this dream concert. The Return, which got its start in 1995 when four young friends got together to play their favorite Beatles songs, has become one of the most recognized and respected Beatles tribute bands. The Return has performed private concerts at Abbey Road Studios in London as well as at the Cavern in Liverpool, England. In addition, they’ve headlined the 40th  anniversary celebration of the Beatles’ visit to Tokyo and served as the official band of the Hard Rock Café’s 30th Anniversary Celebration.

The president of Hard Rock Café exclaimed “Outstanding! Absolutely the next best thing to the originals!" Satisfaction is equally as renowned and respected. With hundreds of performances around the world, Satisfaction is internationally acclaimed as the most authentic cast and production show honoring the Rolling Stones today. These talented musicians create an incredibly authentic portrayal of the original band members’ appearance, sound and mannerism. The New York Examiner heralded Satisfaction “The Best show of its kind…ever.”

Held at the new Dugas Pavilion and Village Green at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in the heart of Destin, this live outdoor music park is fun for the whole family. Seating is first-come, first served so bring your lawn chairs, picnic dinner and beverage of choice, and enjoy live entertainment in a scenic outdoor setting under the stars.

Tickets are available at the event | $18 per person and $15 per person for MKAF members. Free admission to children under 12.

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation, a 501-c-3 not-for-profit charitable arts organization, was founded in 1995 on the cultural, educational and spiritual beliefs of the late Destin Matriarch, Mattie Kelly. The Foundation’s mission is to be a champion in cultural arts and education in Northwest Florida.
