Great Big Fish At Grayton Beach!

May 27, 2013 by Larry Pentel

It has been a great run of beautiful weather since my last report. The Amberines (lesser Jacks) are still hot any day you can get out to 'em and the Vermilion Snappers just keep on coming.

We have limited out on our 10 fish per person on a bunch of trips. The BIG news is the BIG Kings....they are here! Now there are not a bunch of "regulars" around but the ones that are, all qualify as "smokers"! Here's some pics from the past week.

There's a 42 pound King.

A short afternoon 3 hour trip with a pile of Snapper and a fine Shark.

Limit of Jacks, a shark and a BIG King!

Local boy with his first King over 40 pounds. Does he look proud?

This was a "default" trip. My scheduled trip canceled, these folks grabbed me last minute and had a blast. Limit of Jacks , fine King, pile of Snapper... more converts to beach launch fishing!

This was a 3 hour afternoon trip. I picked the folks up and saw a big school of Jacks right on the bar. We followed the school for six miles, getting five fish to the boat in the 20-30 pound range and pulling several more off. Then went on to catch a bunch of Snapper!

These guys always just book a 2 hour... and catch a pile of fish!

Todays' 5 hour trip.... full house! Pair of BIG Kings and a limit of Jacks!

I don't know how long they will stay around but this is the most Kings over 40 pounds I think I have ever caught in one week. When one of those big ole smokers crashes a bait on the surface, sometimes I get more excited than the angler I think.

Get out there and hook something!
