February 19, 2012 by SoWal Staff

Whether you’re a wine collector, a wine aficionado, or simply enjoy great wine paired with superb cuisine, you won’t want to miss this!

The 30A Wine Festival is a two-day event, March 3 and 4, 2012, featuring seminars, a wine symposium, and  tastings from Ladera, Wagner Family of Wine, Huneeus Vintners, Rodney Strong Vineyards, Pali Wine Company, Haber Family Vineyards, Hitching Post, Four Roses Distillery, Foley Family Wines, Pacific Southern Wine Company and Republic National Distributing Company just to name a few.

Along with food pairings from local restaurants including Cafe Thirty-A, Borago and Caliza Restaurant followed by live music and dancing all in the elegant surroundings of Alys Beach.  Participants will also be treated to a Sunday morning brunch and champagne tasting with food from area favorites George’s at Alys Beach and V Seagrove. The presenters involved are among the country’s most celebrated wine professionals. All are bringing their ideas, inspirations, and innovative talent to the Festival table to benefit children in the local area. Tickets are $300 and include entrance to all events throughout the weekend – expect to be impressed!

“An event that incorporates wine, interaction with winemakers and fellow patrons, decadent food, and music, in a breathtaking setting, all to benefit children in need is an amazing venture that we are thrilled to be part of,” says Kelli Arnold, Senior Event Manager for Alys Beach.
Funds from the event will be used for on-going operating funds to sustain the Children’s Volunteer Health Network mission which is to help area uninsured and underinsured children receive the medical, dental, and mental health care they desperately need.  To purchase tickets call 850-622-3200 or visit www.30awinefestival.com

One of the ways CVHN will continue to accomplish its mission is through the creation of a free standing three chair dental clinic.  The opening of this clinic will compliment the Mobile Dental Clinic, “Just for Grins”, by allowing more children to receive the restorative care they require.  If this help is not available, there can often be tragic consequences.  It is difficult to imagine the extent of the physical and emotional damage that can be detrimental to a child’s wellness, growth and educational progress.

Christina Forsyth, Client Care Coordinator notes, “Since inception in 2005, CVHN has facilitated just over 6,056 appointments and helped 2,697 local children get the medical attention necessary. Unfortunately, the number of calls we receive continues to grow.  Our passion is to provide hope where there is pain and the creation of this clinic will allow us to make a difference on an even larger scale. “

CVHN is blessed to have secured start-up funding to build out an existing building located on Lynn Drive in Santa Rosa Beach.  Construction has started and the internal transformation begun.  With funds from the (insert name) and secured commitments we are on our way to achieving our fundraising goal of $250,000.  It is our target to be moved in and open for operation in Spring 2012 but there is still much to be done.  We continue to need the community’s support to make this a sustainable reality.  For more information about how you can get involved, call 850-622-3200 or visit www.cvhnkids.org.
