Registration is Open for Harbor Docks’ Take-A-Kid-Fishing Day

Harbor Docks is hosting its 19th Annual Take-A-Kid-Fishing Day on Sunday, November 3, 2013, and has 350 openings for children and chaperones.
 
For the past 18 years, Harbor Docks has taken hundreds of underprivileged children out for a free day of fishing. The majority of these kids have never been out on the water. After an exciting day of fishing, Harbor Docks treats the families to a fish fry to celebrate. Last year 57 of Destin’s finest charter boats offered their services to take the children out for a fun day of fishing.
 
Children between the ages of 7 and 13 are welcome to join Harbor Docks for a spectacular day of fishing the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the Choctawhatchee Bay. The day will begin at 7 a.m. with early sign-in for boat assignments and breakfast. Children and chaperones will board the boats at 8 a.m. and will return to Harbor Docks at 12:30 p.m. for the fish fry. All participating children will receive a t-shirt, fishing rod and reel.
 
Off-duty policemen, firemen and Harbor Docks Charities volunteers will act as chaperones on the charter boats that have graciously donated their time and efforts.
 
Teachers who are interested in sponsoring or chaperoning groups from their schools should make reservations no later than Friday, October 25, 2013, and call Harbor Docks at 850-837-2506 or fax reservations to 850-654-1851. Group reservations require a parent release form that Harbor Docks will fax to those inquiring to be a chaperone.
 
Single reservations should call or fax their child’s reservation with each child’s name, parent’s name, phone number and the child’s age. There is a requirement of one chaperone for every six children. Please call Harbor Docks between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 850-837.2506 and ask for Jackie, Gina or Becky. Pre-registration is required.
