Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast Ranked Best in Florida for Patient Engagement

June 4, 2014 by SoWal Staff

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast has been recognized for its patient engagement efforts in the first National Patient Engagement Ranking. Patient engagement is the process by which patients take charge of their own health. Ranked 23rd out of 3,077 hospitals nationwide, Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast secured the highest ranking in the state of Florida.

Rankings were compiled by Axial Exchange, Inc., a pioneer in using mobile apps to deepen the patient’s role in improving outcomes, and Becker’s Hospital Review, a leading healthcare trade publication.

“Empowering and engaging patients in their individualized health plans is an integral part of creating a healthier community,” said Roger Hall, president of Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. “Engaged patients have the tools and knowledge necessary to make positive changes and live healthier lifestyles. We are honored to be part of the healthcare process and hope to continually enhance patient engagement efforts regionally.”

To determine scores, Axial Exchange and Becker’s Hospital Review evaluated provider organizations on readmissions, patient satisfaction, and the extent to which they offered information and tools that helped engage patients in self care.

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast is a 58-bed community hospital located in Miramar Beach, Florida. Since opening its doors to patient care in January 2003, the not-for-profit hospital has been recognized nationally for high quality, compassionate and safe healthcare. Sacred Heart has received the 100 Top Hospitals® award from Thomson Reuters and Truven Health four times.
