Summer Fun at Destin Commons
June 27, 2016 by Audrey Johnson
Destin Commons is the place to see and be seen. The lifestyle center has been serving our community for over 10 years, and it's only growing in size and reputation. That’s why we put together a Summer Fun guide to fill you in on what’s new and notable at the Commons, as the locals call it. So whether it’s girl’s night, date night, or family night, you’ll find a little fun for everyone.
Date Nite
Destin Commons is a fun place to bring your honey should you get a night out on the town. Catch the latest flick at AMC Theater and remember to swing by It’s Sugar first to sneak in a bag of your favorite candy.
Craft beer tavern World of Beer is the place for pints, bites and live music with 50 craft beers on tap and over 500 in the cooler. And you can drink, bowl and dine at Uncle Bucks Fishbowl.
Kids Club
Summertime brings little people in swim trunks and bathing suits to the pop up fountain at Destin Commons in search of respite from the heat. If you forget your swim trunks, pop into locally owned children’s boutique Pink n Blue Avenue right next to the playground. They also carry unique toys and adorable clothes.
Little ones love bringing a friend to life at Build-A-Bear Workshop, then heading over to Kilwin’s for some ice cream. Top off your day with a ride on the colorful miniature train down South Street and Center Plaza. All aboard!
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Let’s face it. Malls were built for girls. And Destin Commons caters to women like no other lifestyle center in our area. If the words Sephora, MAC and Aldo mean anything to you, then you’ve come to the right place.
Get pampered at Aveda Avantgarde Salon. Shop local at boutiques like Destin Stars and Blu Spero. Visit national brands you love, or shop beauty and fashion in one stop at places like Luxe Apothetique and Belk.
Get Outdoors
Whether you’re prepping for a backpacking trip through Europe or a day at the beach, Destin Commons has the gear you need. Everything but Water and Swim-n-Sport are up to their gills in swimwear for ladies. And Maui Nix has everything you need to get out on the water, with a wide selection of surf boards, surf accessories and apparel.
Pick up hunting, camping and fishing gear at Bass Pro Shops. Selections range from pocket knives to a 28 ft. offshore fishing boat. And get the rest of your camping and hiking gear at Trailside Outfitter.
Feeding Frenzy
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ve likely heard Whole Foods is open at the Commons. And if you’ve already paid a visit, then you know you can grab beach-ready food to go, brick oven pizza, a growler of beer, or just sit and enjoy a bite at the café.
Zoe’s Kitchen is another healthy eating option the whole family is sure to love, and their chicken kabobs are delish. If you’re into juicing and superfoods, swing by locally owned Formula Fresh for guilt-free snacks and drinks.
Williams Sonoma has every gadget, cookbook and specialty item you could ever need in your kitchen. While The Spice and Tea Exchange carries more fine spices, seasonings, loose-leaf teas and accessories than you’ll find anywhere, all in one place.
Destin Commons is located on Legendary Drive, at the intersection of Hwy. 98 and Mid Bay Bridge Road. The open air lifestyle center currently offers 90+ stores and restaurants with something for everyone. Enjoy events year round, like the annual Smoke on the Coast BBQ and Fireworks Festival that happens every Fourth of July weekend.
