Alys Beach 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run Sep 1

The 8th Annual Alys Beach 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run takes place Labor Day weekend on Sunday, September 1 from 7am til 12pm.

Located along Scenic 30A, the course winds through the resort town and ends with an oversized obstacle course for kids of all ages. Music, food, and beverages will be available in the Alys Beach Amphitheatre at the after party. Proceeds from the 2019 race will benefit Children in Crisis. Registration is OPEN!

The Market Shops Celebrates 6th Anniversary With Walton Area Chamber Business After Hours Sep 19

The Market Shops, located at the entrance to Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, will host the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce for their Business After Hours event on Thursday, September 19, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in celebration of the six-year anniversary of the shopping center. 

Smoke on the Coast BBQ & Fireworks at Destin Commons July 3

The 9th Annual Smoke on the Coast BBQ & Fireworks Festival takes place Wednesday, July 3 at Destin Commons and this year is expected to be bigger and better than ever! Family fun activities include live music and entertainment, BBQ sampling, face painting, photo booth, and the highly anticipated, Independence Day firework extravaganza. Through the Destin Commons Coins for a Cause initiative, 18 local charities team up with various restaurants and BBQ aficionados, for over $85,000 in donations.

23rd Annual Rags 2 Riches Regatta on Grayton Beach June 29

The 23rd Annual Rags 2 Riches Regatta will return to Grayton Beach on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Originally organized by the residents of Grayton Beach and Seagrove, the annual tradition is a celebration of America’s Independence Day. Competitors, families and friends gather at the access behind the Red Bar to watch two-manned teams navigate 16’ catamarans in the race from Grayton Beach to Seagrove.

Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance Begins Invasive Plant Removal from SoWal Coastal Dune Lakes

Invasive plants are out-competing native varieties in our coastal dune lakes here in South Walton.

In order to make room for the native species - which better support wildlife - the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance (CBA) and the AmeriCorps team will begin to remove the vegetation this month. The removal will help restore water flow between portions of the lake that are currently bottlenecked.
