Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Bake Sale at Kitchenique City Market Location

Kitchenique, located on Hwy 98 at City Market in Destin Florida, will be holding a Bake Sale on October 20, 2012 from 9:00am - 2:00pm with proceeds to benefit Cookies for Kids’ Cancer. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is a not-for-profit organization committed to raising funds to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancers. Through local bake sales, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer provides the inspiration and support for individuals, communities, and businesses to help fight pediatric cancer.

Luminaria Run at Sandestin to Benefit Shelter House December 8

Shelter House Domestic Violence Center and Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort are teaming up for the 2nd Annual Luminaria Run at 5 pm on Saturday, December 8. The course will be lined with more than 2,000 luminarias, lighting the path for the walkers/runners and representing how Shelter House and its community partners light the way to a safer place for victims of domestic violence in Okaloosa and Walton counties.     

Seventh Annual Camp Helen State Park Ghost Walk and History Tour on Oct. 13, 2012

Ghosts, spooks, pirates and witches will be hanging out at Camp Helen State Park, Saturday, October 13th. Everyone is invited to join them for an adventuresome evening of continuous storytelling and historic re-enactment from 5:00pm – 8:30pm.

The seventh annual Ghost Walk and History Tour, hosted by the Friends of Camp Helen, is suitable for children. New stories, pre tour entertainment and activities are being planned for this year’s event. Costumes are encouraged and flashlights are recommended. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

Explore the Outdoors on October 6 in Freeport

We're always encouraging visitors and locals to get outside more! That's just what the Explore The Outdoors Festival on Oct. 6, 2012 aims to do. The event will be 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the beautiful Live Oak Landing RV Resort at 229 Pitts Avenue in Freeport.

The fun-filled day is geared towards introducing children to the wonders of exploring the outdoors. It's free, and open to the public. Hands on activities will include fishing, boating, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, wildlife encounters, interactive educational exhibits and much more.

Central Square Cinema Outdoor Movie Series Continues at Seaside in September

The outdoor movie series at Seaside this summer was so successful, that they're continuing into the fall with four classic favorites. In the Seaside amphitheater, starting at 8:00pm, bring your low back chairs, blanket, and cooler and make it a family affair in the great outdoors. The September weather is perfect in SoWal and what better way to enjoy an evening outside than watching a great movie with friends and family. See the September schedule below:

Wunderland Candy & Craft Factory in Grayton Beach is Fun for All

How many times have parents wondered what to do with the children on a rainy afternoon at the beach? Or thought they had too much sun and needed a fun day off the beach?

Trent Grinkmeyer says the lack of things for children to do in SoWal was evident when his daughter attended a birthday party that included a trip to Panama City Beach to go bowling. Shouldn’t there be something closer, Trent thought. And shouldn’t it be a kid-oriented experience?
