Hi fellow Sowallers,
I need help as I am in novel territory here and am overwhelmed already just looking at sites - I am taking my daughters to Disney World In April (may be busy but this is only time we can go) with my cousin and her kids (we will be a total of 2 adults and 4 kids (ages 8, 7, 4 and 3.5) - I need your recommendations for hotels - which is the best, most convenient, funnest....

Any advice, tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated - most especially if they are first hand recommendations from your visits. Many thanks.
We stayed at the Beach Club Resort...9 years ago...we liked it and it had a water slide....and a lagoon style pool where you could float on tubes...Funn

We have gone twice in the last 2 years. Our daughter was 5 the first time and 6 this last trip. Last year we stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The hotel was great and being able to look out your balcony and see African wildlife was a treat. Our daughter thought it was just too cool. The restaurants were good and the bus rides to the parks are convenient.
This year we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. The rooms were nice, if not as interresting as the Animal Kingdom. The restaurants were nice, although not as exotic as the W.L. The pool area was great, and you can ride a boat to the parks.
Both were great and memorable vacations. All in our family liked the Animal Kingdom better. Some of the other hotels are themed more for kids, but it's nice to be able to let the adults unwind too!
Character Dining is always a kid favorite! Book those early.

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/resorts/resortOverview?id=ResortOverviewPage just pick your price point because they are all good. you will spend most of the time in the parks, so I would choose the best package deal.

Yes, staying on site is really the best thing, especially if you have smaller children who get tired quickly. We have stayed at the Beach and Yacht Club resorts several times for a meeting my husband attends almost every year. It happens to be ideal for us since our kids are younger and my husband is off at meetings, and I can't take them all to the park by myself. The pool is great and there are other fun things to do on site. But if you are going to go hard-core on the park tour, then staying at a nicer resort like that is more about luxury than practicality.

We also love the Animal Kingdom resort because it is especially fun for the kids who love animals!

(1) ALWAYS stay on site for transport convenience and ability to charge to room.

(2) If money is a consideration, stay at Value resorts use cash saved for other things.

(2) Use the FastPass machines.

(3) Go to one park in the day--rest up--go to a different park in the evening.

(4) When you enter parks first thing in the AM, start to the left, hit popular rides first.

(5) Plan on seeing most popular shows and visiting water parks during weekdays.

(5) Take a foot soak bath/massager with you--you'll thank me later.

 Beauty and the Beast at Hollywood Studios, (i thought it was MGM?)

they have changed the names.

Since you are going to need two rooms I would suggest Pop Century, it is a value resort. Two rooms at a Deluxe resort in April, the least expensive being standard at Animal Kingdom Lodge or Wilderness Lodge will still cost you $275 per night before taxes.

Standard view at one of the Value resorts will cost you $99 per night before taxes.

You can add the dining plan to your room if you wish to do that. It can save you money if you plan to do many Character Meals.

Here is info on the Dining plan.

I would suggest reading both of these sites for additional info.

Be sure to ask for any Florida resident discounts. Once you book your room, come back for any questions on details such as dining and planning your day.
